"Although the museum has only been in the new building a little over a year, it is a spectacular place. There are exhibits with real machine guns, weapons, personal artifacts, and authentic uniforms, and the amazing thing is they're still growing. As a veteran myself, l've enjoyed visits to other military museums, but I don't think they hold a candle to this wonderful place. lt's a walk through the history of our military including today's technological advancements. I strongly suggest that you and your family stop by. Don't forget to visit their gift shop on the way out."
"I was invited to the Alabama Veterans museum by Jim, whom I met at Waffle House a few days before. I was thoroughly impressed. They have the exhibits in chronological order and by service Branch. I was loving every minute of it... But I lost my breath, when I came upon the exhibit for the USS Arizona... They actually have a small artifact from the USS Arizona that sank in the attack of Pearl. I couldn't believe my eyes I never thought I would be that close to a part of Naval history. Did I mention of a Navy vet... So I'm a sucker for that stuff. It's free and amazing.... Take your family and let themselves learn about something...."
"I made my first ever trip to Athens Alabama! Specifically with a plan to see my grandfather’s hometown and the museum of veterans which there are 13 generations of Putman men that have come from Athens, Alabama and this is very important to him that he showed me this and show me where he was raised! One of the main for the museum was, we were donating military artifacts and records for their museum!"
"Admission is donation only but please donate! There was the sweetest veteran man there to give information about anything you wanted today. The place isn't super huge but packed with tons of great stuff. So many uniforms, weapons, metals, various equipment and artifacts and information inside. Don't forget the stuff outside too! Inside is in order by war and there's more coming soon. My older kids are 8 and 9 and enjoyed themselves also. They have big clean bathrooms, water fountain and little gift shop as well."
"Amazing collection of military uniforms and items. Run by volunteers and EVERYTHING was donated! I am a military collector and Veteran, and had no idea this place existed. Found a brochure at a rest stop and decided to check it out. You will not be disappointed! What an amazing tribute to our veterans! THANK YOU"
