Reviews of Locked In: The Birmingham Escape Game
"We were doing the Warehouse room and we had a great time and it was fun! we were 5 people but we did not solve it. I give 3 Stars because in my opinion the escape room was way too difficult for a group of 5. In order to solve it you really need to know all the riddles right away and you don’t have time to think about it."
"Whole family came for Christmas and we wanted to take on the classroom challenge. Room is going well, made some good advancements until we reached a tough spot, so we thought. Had spent about 10-15 minutes running in circles until the game master called us with 16 minutes left in the room to ask us why haven’t we opened one of the starting locks - turns out we weren’t given all the necessary materials to complete the game. A major code to a lock was left behind the lock - so we would never have been able to finish the game. Game master had to pass us the code under the door, obviously wasn’t paying attention early enough on to see that we didn’t have all the necessary starting materials. Never apologized about it, never owned up to it, no extra time, no pass for an extra game, nothing. There wasn’t enough time left to finish the room (time oriented component needed a necessary amount of time). When we asked about the missing starting piece, the game master said “yeah sometimes people put things in weird places.” ??????? What does that mean?? The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. No one said sorry or owned up to it. At the end the game master said “yeah I didn’t finish it my first time either”. $200 to feel very cheated having known we didn’t have the necessary starting materials from the get-go."
"We have done many escape rooms from NY to LA. This experience was our least favorite to date. To be clear, this review has nothing to do with winning or losing. Some of our most favorite rooms we did not complete. So why the low score? First, the room itself was very underwhelming compared to other rooms we have done, and no "fun" moments are coming your way. Unlock a box to simply find another locked box. Second, the instructions given were incorrect, which added great frustration. For example, each clue is only used one time. Not true. Won't say more to preserve the secrets of the room, but super frustrating. Third... the game master was terrible. When we did ask for a clue, they kept asking what we had completed so they could figure out a clue to provide. Are you not even watching the cameras? And then the clues provided were lame. We actually had to call a second time to ask for clarification on what they said. You could simply tell they were not paying attention at all to our experience. Lastly, once our time was up, they would not share any of what was not achieved. I actually thought the employee was joking with me, but when I pressed a little, she simply said no, we aren't going to tell you anything. I have never been to an escape room that wasn't happy to share the fun that was missed. It simply adds to the experience to know those things. I even asked if I could just know ONE thing that intrigued me, but got a firm no. Just a strange experience from start to finish. Book elsewhere."
"Staff was so nice! We took 5 teenagers here for a birthday party. The staff was patient with them. The easy room was tough for the 13 year olds. Thank goodness for the hints!"
"Staff was incredibly friendly and the overall experience was wonderful. I've done around 25 escape games in many different states and this one is on par with the best I've been to. Its veteran owned and operated by folks who are as friendly as anyone you'll ever meet. My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience here and we will definitely be back to try out more rooms- tonight we escaped The Warehouse! Highly highly recommended."
