Reviews of House of Como
"The food was flavorful! I'm not a salad person at all, but have to say it was even tasty. My salmon was perfection, everyone else said their steaks were delicious. Service was exceptional. Will definitely be returning!"
"Located off of Exit 0, it would appear the world forgot about this whole area. A car auction, abandoned commercial buildings and just a dark vibe. Park at House of Como and it looks like the place may be shut down. They are only open 5-8, so the other 21 hours it appears abandoned. However it is not, and it has some of the best steak you'll ever have. I got an 8 ounce filet and it was lightly seasoned and melted in my mouth. FYI, market price is $55 currently. I wanted to do the 2-3 pound T Bone, maybe next time. Staff was super friendly to an outsider. They are cash only, so come loaded!"
"Service was excellent. Arabian salad was very good, and although we found it odd that the $55 filet mignon was served on a piece of Wonder Bread, it was cooked and seasoned well. The $65 lamb rack, however, was extremely tough, and out of a full rack, we maybe got 1 ounce of edible meat from it. The lubia green beans were canned, and the lyonnaise potatoes were underseasoned French fries. Unfortunately we won’t be back."
"So, I pass by this place all the time & unsure if it was still in business. A coworker confirmed that it is still is . Friday night seems to be the best time. Get in early because it fills quickly. CASH ONLY. No plastics. I ordered a 80$- 3 pound porterhouse and green beans. It took forever to cook ,but well worth the wait; well seasoned & cooked to my standards. The seasoning although chard , it wasnt burnt No salt N pepper needed. The Midwest area has a best kept secret of CountryBobs steak sauce, simplicity in flavor as its best. The atmosphere was in festive holiday spirit although Santa Claus looks like he's missing a few meals . Lol. Overall, I will return for other selections on the menu."
"Stopped here to celebrate a birthday. I'm glad we did. This is an interesting and unique part of Evansville and is worth a try. It's always Christmas inside- ask your waitstaff... The building's exterior looks like it's from another era, and has been hit with a recent storm. The inside is unique and worth exploring. The staff for our visit was attentive, made great suggestions and enhanced the overall experience- thank you. I tried an old fashioned from the bar while I waited for our party to arrive and was pleased. For dinner we ordered the T-bone, NY strip, pork chops and shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Steaks are hefty. The pork chops are enormous and the best deal on the menu. In my opinion the chops were better than the steaks, which is rare for me to say. The steaks were good, the crust on them was heavily seasoned. I'll probably ask for a lighter steak crust next time. Still, this was a well above average steak of well above average size and good quality. The steak was good enough that my wife enjoyed her MEDIUM OR MEDIUM RARE STEAK. which is not normal for her. She needs it to be torched in most situations. Really happy the staff maintained the integrity of the meat for her. Anyone asking for a well done steak here needs to reevaluate their priorities. This is not the place for a piece of beef leather. Prices are elevated, but again, you won't find another steak or pork chop quite the same here in E'ville. The salad and Arabian bread were interesting and enjoyable. A bit salty, especially for flatbread. We didn't try dessert this time but seeing other reviews, and also watching how many filets came out of the kitchen while I was there has helped me to know what I'll be trying next time. Cash or check only."
