Steak 'n Shake 4020 South East Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227

"Very much disliked the cold environment of ordering at a counter to a kiosk machine instead of a live person. The staff, other than one person, were unfriendly. My food came out one item at a time with minutes inbetween each. The sandwich came out first. I had no drink and asked for a cup of water. Was told no because you had to scan a QR code to get a drink from the fountain and they could not get me water. About 3 minutes after my sandwich came out, by which time I had half the sandwich eaten, I was called up to get my milkshake. I had also ordered a cup of coffee that I wanted to go with it all. When I asked about that, I was questioned as to whether I really ordered a cup of coffee and asked to see my receipt on which they did see that I had ordered and paid for coffee. Without word, the person who checked the order left the room. Later safe indicated they would have to brew a pot. When I was finished with my meal they called me up for my coffee which tasted like hot water. Not one apology. And it is difficult to have to go up and get each item of food. Leave yours at the table and return to your seat. Not only is it disruptive of your meal, it's unsafe if there are others in the facility. However, it's quite obvious that many people are not enjoying this lack of service and interaction; the whole time I was there only two other tables were with people."

"Two other people and I ordered at the same time and there was a ten minute difference between our orders coming out. Had to wait for cheese sauce, and it was cold when it came out. Came out cold again when asked to warm it up. Waited 20 minutes for an order of fries and cheese sauce as well, and that cheese sauce came out cold too. Made one order twice before getting out an order of only fries. No one at the counter to tend to customers when needing boxes or bags, and multiple other customers had issues with their orders."

"The staff is very hard working and friendly! The burgers are juicy and delicious. I have been a fan of this Steak N Shake for years. Getting faster and cleaner every visit. I would highly recommend stopping by this location for a chocolate milkshake. I tried the Kit Kat milkshake today and it actually tastes like the candy bar. So far I love this location and the one in Bloomington."

"Went inside to dine. The front counter is completely only self-service kiosks. No waiter to bring you condiments, extra Napkins, ect. No Human interaction... other than when someone gets over a microphone and calls your name to their pickup counter. Absolutely dull atmosphere. Ordered shakes, and they were prepared in to-go cups? What happened to Steak'n Shake's Unique Shake Glasses. Highly Disappointing. Only positive, is the food there was yummy."
