"To start. I’ve been tasting biscuits for years now and have seen the slow decline through the years. Biscuits used to be a staple of Broad Ripple, it was authentic in every way. Most of the people who came here came all the way from the east and west side to enjoy some really tasty food once it was biscuits. They got their remodel, but it insults the heart of what Mexican food and atmosphere is meant to be. When it was biscuits, half the size it is now, there were lines out of the door. Now the owners do not care, it is not the same. Their only staple now is El Viejon that stays parked at a run down liquor store on 30th & Lafayette. Fast forward to now, not only the name has changed, but quality as well. My usual order is Chilaquiles con Salsa Verde, sunny side up egg, and steak. Back then, it was so fresh, so hot and sizzling. The steak was hard to chew, the frijoles were very cold, the eggs were way too burn and greasy, and the “cheese” appeared to be microwaved texture. There was no salsa verde on it. Ive tried this restaurant out a couple occasions, it always come out really bad. I ordered 5 different menu items, still bad. On top of that, there is a mandatory “gratuity” charge only high end restaurants use. This is not close to high end. The coffee was way too cold and gross. I had to ask for 2 different cups. The staff is dead, only one cook. From it being the hottest piece of traditional Mexican food in town, where lines were made, this restaurant is not it. Note, they keep bags of cooked food and reheat it, because this steak tasted days old. It has been reheated too many times and it had a weird cut. Overall 2/10. I know the owner is ashamed of what it has become. Please paint the wacky words that were left on the wall too it’s ridiculous. UPDATE: 2 months ago I wrote this review. Third times a charm just recently. Still not good. I’m a firm believer that the third times a charm trick works but not for this one! 0/10, people with no taste buds, and elderly people or hipsters would love it instead."
"The food tasted fine. The dinner serving of fajitas didn’t even fill the fajita skillet and when I told the server about it he told the cook and wasn’t going to do anything to fix it. I insisted that I wasn’t going to pay any more than the lunch price. Then I went to the bathroom and realized they didn’t have any soap and they had the thinnest toilet paper imaginable. Like, you can’t pull it off the roll without it ripping. I can only expect that people working there are ripping through toilet paper and don’t have soap to wash their hands. I feel like I could lose my entire lunch just thinking about it."
"Midwest Mexican for-the-win! Super easy on-foot access right off the Monon. The food was really good - had the fajita nachos, pollo fundido, and chicken soup. They also gave a generous bag of chips with salsa with the take-out order. The dining room was very empty at dinner time on a Thursday."
"New (similar) restaurant in the old Biscuits Cafe location in Broad Ripple. Stopped by for breakfast on a weekend, and was greeted with nice service, good food, and a fun atmosphere. Menu had a good variety of options."
"Awesome! This spot is new ownership of the formerly Biscuits Cafe. Did a bit of a remodel inside. They've retained the wonderful Biscuits breakfast menu. Have not returned for dinner yet, but will soon. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The chilaquiles is a must for breakfast!"
