"We've dined in a couple times and I usually get takeout from them about once per week. The takeout is always good. I'm not a sushi person but the Firecracker Roll and Dragon Kisses are really good. Today we showed up, table of 5, a little over an hour before close. The service was polite and efficient, we didn't feel rushed at all despite it being so close to closing. We had drinks, 4 appetizers, entrees, and dessert. I had the miso soup (absolutely delicious) and the rest of my table had the clear soup which they liked. Everyone enjoyed their food selections, there were no complaints. The drinks were well balanced."
"Plenty of parking, attentive service, decent food. The quality of the cuts of meat and seafood can be better and lack craftsmanship. The fried rice and stirred fry lacked the wok finish. The scallops can use more sear / crust. The service and the attentiveness of the staff were sublime. It is overall a good experience."
"I'd like to start by saying that I really enjoy Kitaro. When I come on a normal day for a normal meal, the food is delicious, service is fantastic, and I rarely have anything negative to say. We attended a food and wine pairing event last night that was a huge disappointment. We were seated in the back party room - which was a mess. There was a ladder in the corner and barely any room at the one long table that they seated everyone at - which I was not a fan of. I'd prefer to dine with my friends at our own table. The wine was pretty good. The food was great taste-wise, but the presentation and distribution of the food was a complete disaster. They served most of the courses in one big dish that was passed from person to person to pick out their own pieces. HUGE issues there including: sanitation - every single person breathed on and touched all of the food, presentation - the food fell apart with the flimsy tongs we were using, it was heavy and bulky - hard to hold and pass from person to person, no one knew how many pieces we were supposed to take - there was no notice about how much was prepared for each person. The main course was plated individually. One person at the table was forgotten about and didn't get his lamb until well after everyone else had eaten - even the presenter! We received hardly two sips of wine for each paring. There was a lady who wanted to take pictures for the Kitaro wall that made me feel very uncomfortable with how pushy she was for group pictures and demanding everyone smile bigger as she took 20+ photos from the same angle. Overall the food and wine were tasty, but the experience was awful and we went to another restaurant to eat afterwards. NOT worth $100/person."
"We ordered $37 medium steak. We received very rare steak. They just seared the sides and the middle was blue. We asked them to cook it more. They burnt one side and the middle was still very rare. We didn’t eat any of it and asked for the owner. She refused to show herself because she was busy. She didn’t care that her chef can’t cook a $37 steak and didn’t care to improve her business. We asked for a refund for the steak. We didn’t get one. Further, they are out of noodles so good luck. This place is poorly managed by the owner who is inept to run a restaurant. The staff is fine the leader is the reason this restaurant is going to fail."
"Went here for our anniversary. I LOVED it. The food was fabulous. The drinks were fabulous. The crab rangoon was probably the best I've ever had. I got the Hawaiian roll, a shrimp tempura roll, and the 2 autumn themed cocktails. My husband isn't big on sushi or fish, so he didn't dig the menu choices, but it was everything I was hoping for. I just need to find a friend who enjoys sushi as much as I do so I can go back in the near future."
