"Been waiting a while to post about this but helping hands has burned me one too many times. The woman at checkout has been rude and dismissive the last three times I’ve gone here. The last time I was with my mom and she got an attitude with her when my mom asked about a price on a small ornament. Her response to my mom asking was “I haven’t priced the damned thing yet!” Obviously we left and also left everything in the buggy. If it were just me I’d let it go, but she disrespected my mom and I’m not letting that go. I’m not interested in ever going back to either location. They aren’t worth the effort and most of the staff are the same way. So save your time and shop elsewhere."
"This was a normal stop for me traveling through Montgomery but NOT ANYMORE (sadly). I asked one of the young lady in the front if an empty jewelry display on top of the counter amongst a lot of other variety of items was for sale. She said no the items on top of the counter are not for sale. I said okay no worries! I move on to look at some jewelry not even 2 minutes later (I don’t think the lady realized I was close by), 2 female workers decide to mock me by acting out, “ hi, how can I help you” ….. “oh can I buy something that’s clearly not tagged?”. And then they decide to laugh. That honestly really hurt my feelings. Thanks for such an awful experience."
"I'm going to share my experience and what I didn't like about it during my first time here. Walking in for the first time, I immediately noticed video games/toys/ music instruments to my left, and that got me really excited. There was a nice woman sorting cassette tapes behind a glass cabinet and asked what caught my attention, as I spoke with her I noticed there was an open box on the floor behind her filled with PS3 games and I asked if I could take a look at what's inside. She said that that box hadn't been sorted/priced yet but that I needed to talk to the person in charge. The person in charge walked over to us. He was very kind, and I asked if i could check out a bass guitar they had on display, he said yes, handed it over to me and I asked if I could test it, he said yes and brought over a bass Amp. He hooked up everything, and I played it for a few minutes and handed it back to the lady, and I said thank you. The bass looked and sounded OK, but It needed some adjustments. The price I thought could be a little better but wasn't too bad. So I told the lady it's a decent bass with an OK price. Then I pointed to the box with video games and asked the guy if I could see it, I was surprised by his answer. He kindly said those aren't for sale because they haven't been sorted and most likely will be sent to a video game specific store they have not far away from there. That was my first disappointment. I said OK fine. I noticed there was a shelf a few feet away that I suspected were the video games that are actually for sale and asked, so are those over there for sale? He answered yes, but he also said, check back with us later at the video game specific store for these items, he said if you are looking for something specifically, they might have it over there. I said thank you. I walked over to the shelf, scanned the whole thing, and I picked out two games. They were all for 5 bucks, but they were mostly sports games for Xbox 360, og Xbox, ps1, ps2, ps3. There was nothing to get too excited over. Here comes the part of the story I was more disappointed about. In front of this shelf was another group of glass cabinets arranged like an island, and I noticed a pile of boxes up against the cabinet on the floor filled to the brim with video games, so I decide to look through it, it had everything, PS4, PS3, OG XBOX, XBOX 360, even a Indiana Jones PSP game, and I thought, if all this stuff is out here for anyone to see and go through, I should be able to pick what I want and buy it, now none of these items had a price to them but again, my mindset was, well this is a thrift store, if there is no price I can surely make an offer or haggle for the items. I picked out 12 games out of these boxes, and I was super excited! They were decent games! after a long while of standing there looking through these boxes, the lady from the beginning of the story noticed me and walked over and said something like, "Oh, I think these might not be for sale as well because they aren't tagged, where did you find them?" I pointed to the boxes on the floor, and she said, "Yes, those aren't priced, " Then I told here, well I see that, but if I make an offer, do you think I can buy them? And she said, well if the price is right you might, but I would talk to the other person. The guy walks over to me, and at this point, I see in his face that he's starting to become a little frustrated with me, I told him I want to buy these 12 games and I want to make an offer, and I said can I buy all these 12 games for $60 (5 each in my mind based on the pricing I saw on the shelf all games were 5). He said, "Give me a moment," and I stood there until he said, "In solitude," and yet again made a very frustrated face to me, I said oh I'm sorry! And I walked back to give him space. A few minutes passed, and I could tell he was checking out what I had picked, he then came and rejected my offer, and I said can I make a 2nd offer and this is when he complely put me down and said he had to get back to his work. I won't ever come back here."
"i was prevented from buying the only items i wanted in the store because the employee wanted them. ADDITIONALLY, it’s 20 cents to print a piece of paper at the library. i advise printing some signs that say not for sale for items in the bins."
"Relocated to Montgomery due to Hurricane Ida so had to start over. The staff was very helpful. Prices great! Delivery service available at reasonable rates."
