"This is my first time there but it was great. They have a nice little store to enter, an entrance to Lake Michigan which is nice and clean, I also has a camping ground which I did not use but it looks like everyone who was there was having fun and enjoying their time."
"The park was full but the beach had plenty of unmanned space to walk along the shore or just sit and enjoy the breezes and views."
"Nice Clean park, I haven’t been here since the 70’s a great improvement. Nice Camping sites, playground, tables and the Beach"
"I camped at Covert a couple years ago in the middle of October. The experience was pretty good. The spots are kind of small but not the smallest that I've ever stayed on. Unlike Van Buren campground, which is right down the road, the beach access is pretty simple. At Van Buren, the erosion prevented us from being able to just walk right to the beach. You had to walk up a big dune to access the beach. But that issue may be resolved at this point since the water levels are not nearly as high. Covert is a good alternative if you cannot get into Van Buren to camp. But enough about Van Buren SP. In 2020, when we camped here, the water levels were very high throughout the whole state, causing flooding and erosion along the great lakes. In response to that, Covert placed long pieces of wood into the water along the beach in order to slow the progression on the erosion. Here in 2022, a year that's been considerably dry so far, these preventative measures may not be as essential as then. The sunset of Lake Michigan is everything that you would imaging it would be. That alone makes it worth the stay at Covert. The beach is somewhat low-key, meaning there is no concessions or anything like that. Keep in mind that marijuana is prohibited and they make that clear in the rules and guidelines. I don't know how much it is enforced though. There is also a code to enter the restrooms and showers. Overall, this is a very nice campground, especially if you cannot get into Van Buren SP."
"First time camping here. Loved the location, having the beach within short walk is awesome! Great views of Lake Michigan. Only downs is no Wi-Fi, small lots & the restrooms/showers are gross. Not totally unexpected at campground but def needs improvement. Still, will be back!"
