"The food was good, the price was fair, and the portions were average. Years ago, this would be expected of any establishment. Nowadays, it's considered amazingly good. Whatever. The only complaint I have was the rude reaction I got from one of the servers when, after getting my food, I continued on to get my soda. Well, you would think I was robbing the place. I was sternly and rudely TOLD to sit down, I'll bring your drink to you. The location of their soda machine positions it to look like a self-service soda fountain like every other fast food place. The regulars already know what to do, but myself and two other customers after me did not. All of us were TOLD, like misbehaving school children, to sit down. If you're going to put your soda fountain where it looks EXACTLY like a self-serve station, don't be upset when that's exactly what customers try to do. Tone down the attitude just a little."
"Food was absolutely excellent. Service was great. There was a really long line when I walked in and the crew had it moving relatively quickly. There was one lady taking care of the entire restaurant's drinks and table clearing and she was doing a better job than I often see a team of people doing. Price was good for the food quality. Turnip greens were great and the lemon. Cake was excellent. Fried chicken was good, cornbread muffins were great, and mash 'n gravy was excellent. Will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area around lunchtime."
"Cold cafeteria style food, without a soul. Pretty tasteless. Tastes like everything came out of a can. Almost $30 for 2 people for tiny little portions. The small divided plates make it look like more than you really get. The hushpuppies were balled up cornmeal, nothing more. The fish was dry and needed some seasoning. My first time IS my last time."
"UPDATE since receiving owners response: Sir/Ma'am you should have been a satirical writer as it seems you can do that better than cooking or accepting constructive criticism. The 'jiz' on the hot sauce bottle was caked on, and certainly not fresh. Although I am not a culinary forensics analyst, it could be a clue that it has never been cleaned. You should count yourself lucky to have 180 people fooled on a daily basis. Alas it will never be 181 as in the future I would rather eat grass in the median of Highway 72. My original review stands firm. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Typical local meat and three restaurant with a strong local following. My first time visiting and to be very honest it was only OK, please let me explain. Portion sizes were miniscule at best in relation to cost. In the attached picture you'll see that I was fortunate to receive 6 small cubes of beef and a smattering of rice. Even the sides were dinky, especially when compared to the $12.75 cost (minus tip). Food was tasty but nothing that would make me drive here to eat again. They claim "Soul Food" but I must have missed it... Apparently they are indeed the only restaurant in the area and as such feel they can and do skimp on quantity of food served. I'm not looking for a buffet type meal but they certainly could do better. Another thing that turned me off was the lid on the hot sauce, it actually appears that it has never been wiped down. NASTY! I for one, came, saw, ate, left and will not be returning anytime soon. The parking lot looked like it had been hit with multiple 500 lbs cluster bombs. Craters everywhere and when filled with rain water made it very difficult to gauge depth. Your results may vary. One alibi restrooms were fairly clean."
"Some of the best fried chicken and macaroni and cheese I have ever had. If you know you know, and if you don't... I suggest you find out. I was driving through around lunchtime and I saw a whole bunch of cars, so I figured I would turn around and see what this place was. I am so so glad that I did. The chicken breast was the juiciest fried chicken I have ever had. Perfectly seasoned in my opinion. The pinto beans were good too. I really want to go back any try more. The staff was super friendly also."
