Reviews of Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad
"We really loved this small splash pad. I was surprised when I saw the reviews. We were looking for a splash pad that was open after Labor Day and stumbled upon this park. Yes, the concrete benches are not placed in the best locations. I sat on the edge of one by a hill while my children played to ensure they would not hit their head, so this was not a big deal for us. My boys are 4 and 2 and they were able to navigate the hills just fine. We went in the early afternoon and most of the kids were close to my kids ages. There was maybe one child over the age of 5. The park was clean and everyone was nice and respectful. We look forward to visiting more often!"
"This is such a cute place for little kids! There are several inground sprinkler like water features that are accessible with a child sized button. The only downside I seen is the handi accessible entrance is when parking in the street, in front. From the back handi parking there is a very long ramp leading around to the front so it is accessible, but for young children needing mobility devices like wheelchairs, it would be very difficult to manange without assistance."
"Great to have a nice free place to take the kids… so why do I rate it 1 ⭐️? Cause I nearly fell at least twice while simply walking on the colored cement which turns into equivalent of stepping on an ice rink in sneakers once they are wet! I wasn’t even running! I guess my sprained ankle and pulled muscle is better than cracking my skull at least. DEFINITELY will NOT be returning to this hazardous splash pad . My kids lives are too valuable to risk it. I can’t believe how many people were complaining about it while we were there. It’s really a shame. And a waste of tax money."
"This started as a nice idea, but who designed this splash pad? Obviously no one with children. Every green hill has at least one dangerous cement corner that can be fallen into (refer to pictures). In fact one of my children did. Very lucky it wasn’t their head. Then the rocks, a sight for small children does not include rocks that can be thrown, my other child got hurt in the rocks. The final straw was 2 children approximately 6 years of age The parents were obviously not with them. One had a long water gun and plastic sword that he was swinging around while the other child was riding a battery operated mini bike. Neither of them were harming anyone, but the potential was definitely there. Again it was a very nice idea and it is free but the city needs to re think this whole site. We will not be back"
"Love the new splash pad!!! Perfect size for the little ones, and even our big kids (7 and 9) had a blast! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because one of the turf hills for hanging out on has a very dangerous slope down right into a cement half wall (see photos). I foresee this being a cause of injury for the kiddos especially the younger ones. Maybe something can be wrapped around this to make it a friendlier surface if a child rolls/runs down the hill. There is a similar one on the other side of the hill as well."
