"j deere x500 mower pulley bearing wore out causing drive belt to break! called A plus on a saturday, mower was pu on tues and returned ready to use on thurs. good professional service and advice provided by both the owner and his son along with the speedy repair and return of the mower. couldnt ask for anything more! first rate!!!!! would recommend to anyone!"
"My friends could not fix my snowblower but it immediately started up and ran great after Thomas from A+ Mowers graciously picked it up, repaired it, and brought it back home before the big storm - all at a reasonable price with a 30 day guarantee! Great service - I will be calling A+ first the next time I have a small engine problem."
"I called a+ to bring in my push mower to get it starting again. The owner is very nice. I only gave four stars due to the following reasons. 1. He first quoted me at $60. When he knew the price was going to double that would have been a perfect time to give me a call and ask me if it was ok before doing the work. 2. Doing additional work that was not asked for. Which was replacing the mower blade. This had nothing to do with actually starting the lawn mower. Another reason to make a phone call and ask if I wanted to replace that during this repair. 3. Another reason to call is if the job is going to take longer than what you initially stated. Like waiting for parts. I'm sure by reading this review you're thinking why in the world would I even give this business 4 stars. Well I have had this mower for 20 years and I have never had work done to it before other than blade sharpening. He was kind enough to completely clean the deck and was very nice to deal with. For my next visit I would make sure to be clear to communicate with him that says exactly what I want to replace or fix. And then to call me with any price increases, additional repairs or delays in completion."
"I have taken a number of small engines that have needed repair to A Plus Mowers and have always been pleased with the price, time to get the work done and the result. The most recent was a generator that would not start. They got it in, tuned it up and even did some extra things to make sure it will give me trouble-free operation. I highly recommend this company."
"Called them to pick up my lawn tractor and 1) Clean the carburetor 2) Sharpen the blades 3) Mount the mower deck, which was currently taken off. They picked it up from the house, and never called me to give me any kind of estimate. They didn't return any of my phone calls, never let me know even a ballpark figure of how much the service would cost. After two weeks with no contact, they finally told me they were missing a bracket to mount the deck. I looked in my shed and dropped it off to them ten minutes later. At this point when I asked how much the bill would be, the guy I spoke to told me the carburetor work "Wasn't that bad, they just had to flush the carb, didn't take long at all." He still couldn't tell me how much the bill would be, even though apparently the work was done at this point. After a couple more days, they finally called back and said it was done, but that they had fixed the choke cable (which I hadn't asked them to do) and replaced the belt (which I definitely didn't want them to do). He told me at that point that the bill would be $220. I was completely baffled, and asked him to break down that total and let me know how much each thing had cost. He got pretty irate and told me he would drop it to $200. At this point, I just wanted my mower back, so I said okay. They then came by after several hours, and the guy could barely get the mower started to get it off the trailer. He pointed out where they had welded on an extension to the blade engage lever (which was only necessary because the new belt was too tight). He told me I would now need to pull back really hard on the lever to get the blade to completely disengage enough to start the mower. Now my wife can't start the mower without help. He told me that the hard start was due to the fact that it needed a new battery. The mower almost lasted long enough to mow the yard once before the choke cable (which they charged me to fix) and the belt (which they replaced without asking me) had both broken. I called them to let them know, and the guy on the phone was really eager to help, sending someone over within a couple hours to pick it up. He told me they would "Take care of it.". No word for them for 9 days, before I finally called them to ask when it would be done, and he told me my NEW bill, which would pay for the repair of the choke cable and replace the belt (the first time, the belt was $50, this time for some reason it was only $20, which he didn't bother explaining. I told him I had already been charged for the choke cable, which he didn't seem to be aware of, and he told me that they would take $5 off of the bill. As far as the belt, he said that something had gotten stuck in the blades, causing the belt to break, which he told me was "abuse", and as such they wouldn't warranty the belt. Keeping in mind, the old belt had survived plenty of what he called "abuse" and had never broken, and was still in one piece when they took my mower. They said they would drop it off today, even saying they would "be right over" (I live about eighty yards from them, it takes more time to put it on the trailer than to drive it over here). It's now 6:30 pm, and they haven't shown up yet. I've been waiting for them to show up for over 10 hours, and missed going to the beach with my family to wait for them. Do not under any circumstances give these people your business, they are crooks, and the most unprofessional mechanics of any kind I have ever dealt with."
