Fort Negley

"Best sunrise and sunset spot in Nashville. A cool walk to a peaceful historical venue. This is the hidden gem of Nashville’s parks. Even though the Visitor’s Center doesn’t open until noon, I was able to walk the park much earlier!"

"This is a hidden Nashville Gem. The Fort has a wonderful Visitor Center, lots of historic artifacts and photos. The 3/4 mile trail is well maintained."

"We stopped by here to spectate the historical landscape about a week ago. Only the entrance has remains of the fort, while the rest of the land is still under renovation. The visitor centre provides plenty of information and their innovations on what they plan to do with reconstructing the fort itself. The staff there are kind and informative, with plenty of brochures and souvenirs there. The hallway is also lined up with museum-like items and sculptures. As it stands, the rest of the area is just a field with construction happening at the centre, so it would be about a 5 km walk (~45 minutes) to cover the whole area in a large circle pathway. The parking is also limited due to construction happening at the lot as well ...thankfully it wasn't busy when we visited in the early afternoon. So overall, there was very little to see or interact with here. As of now, I do not advise visiting Fort Negley this month or the next few months, due to the construction projects happening. Possibly in the summer, or even next year the development should be completed hopefully."

"Good for a quick stop and stretch the legs. The walking trail is a big loop and there is a path to the top at one point. The fort is currently being restored, so you can only walk around the walking trail until 2023."
