About the Heald Square Monument
The Heald Square Monument is a bronze sculpture group located in Heald Square, Chicago, Illinois. Designed by Lorado Taft, the monument depicts General George Washington, Robert Morris, and Haym Salomon, key figures in the American Revolution. Completed by Taft's associates after his death in 1936, the sculpture is a significant landmark in the Michigan-Wacker Historic District of Chicago's Loop community area. Named after Captain Nathan Heald, the square holds historical significance and was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1971.
