About the Drake Farmstead
Drake Farmstead, located at 927 North Drake Road in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is a historic tourist attraction that offers visitors a glimpse into the past. Originally purchased by Oshtemo Township in 2004 to save the historic brick farmhouse from demolition, the site has since been transformed into Drake Farmstead Park, which opened in 2021.
The park features 26 acres of land that once belonged to the Drake family, offering a peaceful setting for nature walks and a chance to learn about the area's history. Volunteers are working to restore the native landscape and uncover the foundations of the old barns that once stood on the property.
For those looking to host a community event, Drake Farmstead Park offers the unique timber frame carriage barn as a venue. Perfect for birthday parties, family reunions, or wedding receptions, the barn is a great choice for history and nature lovers. Guided tours of the historic Drake House are also available by arrangement with the Oshtemo Historical Society.
The mission of Drake Farmstead is to enhance the quality of life for all residents through responsible growth and municipal services that promote economic vitality, environmental stewardship, and social equity. Whether you're looking to explore the history of the area or host a special event, Drake Farmstead offers a unique and memorable experience for visitors.

Reviews of Drake Farmstead
"Found this place bike riding, nobody I knew had heard of it. Maybe they could promote this wonderful old farm house, and the many trails so others may come and enjoy."
"Was lucky enough to stumble across this place by accident, when looking for a wedding venue a couple years back. we were one of the first weddings in the carriage house. great grounds, great people to work with. still go there on the regular to walk...."
"Nice view, it's a nice historic place to visit if your around the area."
"Beautiful site being developed as a township park. New restrooms, but they are often locked. Small pavilion with picnic tables. Hiking trails. I have not been in the house or the other buildings."
"Peaceful and pretty area moments away from several shopping and eating areas. Looking forward to seeing the inside of the historic home. Great picnic area and a newer building for events. Small trail system work in progress but you can walk them with nio trouble. Old barn foundations and lots of plant life. Plenty of parking."
