"We have been in our R&W home for about 2.5 years now and the poor quality of materials is becoming more and more obvious, as is their poor customer service. We were told when we toured the house for final approval that paint would be fixed at the 1 year warranty check, when we called and asked for paint touch ups we were told that paint is not part of the warranty. The carpet matted and frayed within a year, the laminate flooring is chipping, the dishwasher is rusting more every day, etc. We have 3 drop-in sinks on our second level, all of which have come loose from degrading caulk. When I called there was no ownership over the fact that the caulk should have lasted longer than 2 years, and when I asked if R&W would come out and fix the issue, the man's response was that the warranty on the home is a year and that "caulk is cheap". When I asked how to remove the existing failing caulk, he told me that he would use a blade, but didn't want to recommend I use a blade because he "didn't want me to hurt myself". As I was told, caulk is cheap. I also understand that caulking nicely can be technique sensitive. Coming out and fixing the job could have been an easy and inexpensive show of good-will and quality customer service, but instead turned into a conversation that felt sexist and condescending. Overall it has been a disappointing experience."

"We are nearing completion with our Roersma Wurn house and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the workmanship, the timeline and the people. One thing I value the most is their clear and constant communication; if they tell you something is going to get done, it gets done on time and done well (something I believe their competitors have struggled with in the current construction market). My husband and I are both pretty detail oriented and we have been so impressed with their quality and attention to detail. Heather and Shanti have been amazing from the design side, they work tirelessly to bring great ideas and do an outstanding job helping me envision various designs in my home through drawings, photos etc. Kevin, Garry, Mark and Bill have been truly incredible with managing the various aspects of the project, communicating with each other and providing us with innovative solutions when posed with a potential problem. For example, our lot had a difficult slope which caused potential issues with respect to excavation. Roersma Wurn had a very experienced excavator that handled it without any problems. When I walk through the house and meet the various subcontractors, I sometimes ask how long they have worked on Roersma Wurn houses and I get responses like, "over 20 years". They also are very forthcoming with advice based on their enormous experience building homes. For example, they have been great about sharing thoughts on how to reduce/eliminate expense from the budget, making me truly feel they are acting in my best interest. This company has a very strong culture and you can tell from the very beginning how much they care about the homes they build and the homeowners they serve. I highly recommend this builder and will update this review after we move in!"
