"We bought a 120 year old home in Grand Rapids, MI last year, which had been neglected for many years. Unfortunately the inspector missed the the sagging bay windows which had been getting steadily worse for decades. The issue really came to a head when our gutter contractor couldn’t run gutters across the front of our house because of the fallen windows. We heard good things about Grand River Builders so we called them up only to discover their backlog was several months. We decided to wait; what a good decision. Craig, their general manager , came over to look at the job and gave us an initial estimate. He put our job into the queue and a few months later we received notification that we were up next. They came out and pulled one of the bays apart. Craig told us that the repairs would be significant and we could either have them do a minimal repair which wouldn't be a long-term fix or completely rebuild the bays. We decided to do it right and have them rebuilt. Craig assigned Elliot to the project. We found his communication, professionalism and skill to be extraordinary. Elliot and the Grand River team rebuilt the bay windows in their shop. Elliott told us that they had to build custom blades to be able to mill lumber in order to duplicate the 120 year old trim on our house. They completely rebuilt the casement windows and fixed the structural problems. They showed up on time every day, left our house clean and always made sure we knew the status of the work. My only disappointment is they only do exterior work as we’d love to hire them to do our interior remodel. They were a pleasure to deal with; we feel we got great value for our money."
