About the Glen Haven Village
Glen Haven Village, located at 5121-5395 Glen Haven Road in Glen Arbor, Michigan, United States, is a charming destination that offers a glimpse into the past. This small village on the shores of Lake Michigan is a well-preserved cord wood station, showcasing its history as a company town that later diversified into farming, canning of fruit, and tourism.
Visitors to Glen Haven can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Lake Michigan, perfect for a swim or a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The village itself has been restored to its 1920s appearance, with a General Store offering merchandise related to the area's history, including kitchenware, toys, and maritime-related items.
The Cannery in Glen Haven, originally built as a warehouse and later converted into a cherry cannery, now houses a museum showcasing historic boats used in the area. Volunteers have dedicated countless hours to restoring these boats and operating the exhibit, making it the largest public collection of Great Lakes small craft.
Additionally, visitors can explore a fully restored 1920s blacksmith shop, where demonstrations of ironwork take place. Watch as the blacksmith transforms bars of iron into useful items, and feel free to ask questions about the trade or the local history. Learn about D. H. Day and his contributions to the development of Glen Haven while taking in the interactive exhibit.
With public restrooms available by the General Store, Glen Haven Village offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the rich history of this picturesque lakeside community.

Reviews of Glen Haven Village
"Hidden gem. Turquoise water. Petoskey stones. Crystal clear pristine beach."
"The BEST Public beach. Stunning views, not crowded, public bathroom and plenty of parking"
"Excellent lil museum with an the buildings and it, but what made it is the beach! It's beautiful. Plus you can see the two Manitou lighthouses in the distance."
"A historic blacksmith shop, a coast guard history display, and a beach pus one or two other old buildings. The blacksmith shop is a neat display of how it was done a hundred years ago or more. There is a coast guard history display in the old canary building. This is neat, but kinda small and limited! The beach is the real stunner! It seems to go on forever in both directions. The view is truly great. You can see Leelanau in the distance and the view if Lake Michigan can take your breath away. The sand is pristine even with the crowds. They need more benches, more parking and a much bigger restroom. Overall though 5 stars. I highly recommend visiting if in the area. So obviously I would return!"
"Awesome place to explore. Blacksmith show & maritime museum were open for demonstrations when we arrived."
