Reviews of Historic Sturgeon Bay Bridge
"One of the most refreshing places around to take a nice, leisurely walk across the water is on this impressive structure of a bridge."
"The Michigan Road Bridge is a historic bridge in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, United States. The bridge was built in 1929 and opened on July 4, 1931, with a major service, where it was officially dedicated to the Door District Veterans Memorial. The plaque at the top still says "To honor those who served their country, in a time of need" as a gift from the State of Wisconsin. It is the only bridge connecting the mainland to the northern Door District after the train/toll collection didn't stop working. Sturgeon Bay Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 17, 2008 because of the length and length of its unique upper lift. After page five of the network struggled to save the tree from being demolished and replaced in kind, the state decided to add a second sister tree to meet safety standards. In September 2008, following the inauguration of a new, song, two-lane tree that was inaugurated one block from Oregon, the historic bridge was closed to allow for duplicate work from scratch. Federal safety standards require the replacement of lanes to respond to application loads of large and congested interfaces that do 3,000 bridge openings annually. Bridge history and new operation the bridge as a system. The historic bridge was reopened in spring 2011."
"I just loved it because it’s a bridge that connected my state’s history with the rest of the Door Peninsula."
"Lovely bridge indeed whether viewing from the water or driving across. Not fun when it opens on a Friday afternoon or Sunday during the tourist season, however. If it does, you can try to turn of and take one of the two downtown bridges instead but usually ends up being a horse a piece after your detour."
"Awesome guys working these things. Efficient and helpful getting us through undersail and without the use of our engine."
