Reviews of Door County Historical Museum
"We stumbled across this little gem as we toured the historic area of SB. So well done with Great staff. Give yourselve and hour if you look at pictures and a couple if you like to read the info. Great fire hall and portable jail too... just to add to the experience. Thank you for this Colin... Toronto Canada,"
"Great little place. Free, donations welcome. Friendly staff. The taxidermy display was very well done. Good area history. Part of the building is the original fire dept, and they had a cute little 1 cell jail for fun pics. Bring cash-no credit/debit available. A few souvenirs for purchase."
"Free admission. Full of interesting displays and information. We especially loved the wildlife/bird display in the foyer. We spent a lot of time studying it. Everything very well labeled."
"Really awesome history museum. I especially loved the old fire trucks and pumpers. Also enjoyed the antique hearse and learned how they used to put skis on it for the winter months. Right inside the front door is fantastic painted mural with several taxidermy birds and animals on display. The display was created by local artist Mike Orthober. It's a huge museum and I only made it through about half of it, so I will need to return and finish the tour. Docents are amazing are friendly, so stop by and have a great time."
