Reviews of Soldiers National Monument
"The Soldiers National Monument is one of the first monuments dedicated on the Gettysburg battlefield, being dedicated on July 1st 1869 by General George Meade who commanded the Army of the Potomac at the battle. The marble statues around the base of the monument represent History, War, Peace and Plenty. The figure of the Genius of Liberty stands on top of the monument. She holds a sword in one hand and the wreath of peace in the other, representing the constant struggle for freedom."
"Beautiful monument. The location of Lincoln’s speech and very respectfully done. A lot of talent in the details."
"A great piece of history, this monument marks where Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg address. This is a must-see!"
"If you are touring the battlefields in Gettysburg don’t skip the Soldiers Cemetery. Take the time to stop here. If you have the chance to attend the Memorial Day ceremony, I’d suggest that as well."
"So this is the spot where the famous Gettysburg address was given. It of course looks nothing like it did on that day but thats ok because in it's place is this fine statue. I really had this bone chilling thought trying my best to think what that moment must have been like, to have that moment in history in front of you. This is a must on any list of things to do."
