Reviews
"I did not take the opportunity to go up in the monument last time I visited. I took the opportunity to go up in monument this time and do not regret it! The views from the top were amazing. Hearing the history behind the monument was incredible. The staff were great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend getting your tickets in advance; however, there are usually some last minute “day of” tickets if needed (which is what I did)."
"The Washington Monument is an iconic symbol of American history, and I had the pleasure of visiting it recently. This awe-inspiring obelisk, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., left me utterly mesmerized. Standing tall at 555 feet, it dominates the skyline and serves as a tribute to the first President of the United States, George Washington. The monument's design is both elegant and commanding, with its distinct white marble exterior gleaming against the backdrop of the city. The surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. It's also an excellent place for history buffs, with informative plaques and exhibits on site providing insights into the monument's construction and its historical significance. The Washington Monument is a must-visit for anyone exploring Washington, D.C. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography buff, or just looking for a serene place to enjoy the outdoors, this iconic landmark has something to offer everyone. Don't miss the chance to experience the legacy of George Washington and the United States up close. It's a true testament to the enduring spirit of the nation."
"The view from up here is breathtaking. This is a free visit but you have to come early to get the ticket because there is always a big line. Buy don't worry your will be able to get the tickets."
"If you can, definitely try to get tickets for a tour!! You will need to get tickets in advance most likely. While we were waiting for our timed entry, the park rangers were constantly turning people away. There are a few same day tickets available in the morning, but they run out quickly. We were there for a holiday weekend and the rangers were telling folks without tickets to get in line at 6am at the latest for the next day. Entering the monument is strange, you first need to go through a security check point. Once everyone in your group is through, a massive solid steel door opens and lets you inside. It’s timed to close after a certain amount of seconds. The ride up to the top is quick and the elevator is very smooth. Views out are awesome but it can be a little crowded. You might need to wait a few minutes for people to head down to the gallery floor. The ride back down is pretty cool because the elevator slows down at two points so you can view some of the engraved stones from whomever they were donated from."
