"Dar Leaf is my hero. Thank you for fighting for us. Our elections are flawed. He is willing to take scrutiny for what many of us believe in. GOD BLESS DAR LEAF and all he employs."
"Sheriff Dar Leaf is an amazing person and a role model for all new and upcoming officers. A man who will be seen as a hero long after our time has passed"
"mike who runs the fingerprinting for cpl applications is probably the rudest person ive met in all of hastings. also doesnt know the required forms needed because he sent us back to the clerk for an application we didnt need. we needed the receipt, not the actual application. mike insisted we needed the application. sheeeeeesh, would give zero stars if possible. recommend taking 5 deep breaths before interacting with anyone in this building - or you might catch a charge"
"My wife and I had an encounter with an officer last night. We were jet skiing and she really wanted to see the sunset, etc, etc. Well, we pushed it a little too close and were... pulled over?... Anyways, the officer took the time to explain the hours we were allowed to operate, as well as clear up the confusion when I explained I had looked up the laws after our safety class wasn't clear, and I found a lot of conflicting answers. He explained what each law was about and were it applied, as well as the specific one for jet skis. I wish the safety class we paid for had been at least half as informative! He was a friendly in demeanor, very professional, exactly the type of encounter you'd hope to have. 10 out of 10, would do again, lol. But seriously, with all the cop hate, everyone has forgotten most officers are good guys and live by "protect and serve", even off duty. It's just a few of those "Billy Badass" types giving the other 99% a bad name and the media sensationalizing everything totally out of proportion for a story and then gaslighting people. Even with at least 3 separate boats with people pulled over around the lake, he took the time to be professional and to help us understand everything so we won't make future mistakes. On a side note- If you take a boaters safety class in person, they're SUPPOSED to have you your card at the end, not mail it to you! We can't go out again until we get them now. And again, the officer took the time to explain all this info so we avoid ever having these situations again."
"I have personally never been in trouble a day in my life, and have never had any problems. However tonight I had a couple police officers come to my home and I was extremely disappointed with the amount of disrespect. I understand they have a job to do, but if they can not have respect for people they shouldn't have a job working with people. I have never seen an officer of the law be so cruel and mean to someone doing no harm in my life. I pray they are not all that mean."
