CIBC Theatre 18 West Monroe Street, Chicago, IL 60603
About the Business
CIBC Theatre, formerly known as the Majestic Theatre, is a historic venue located at 18 West Monroe Street in Chicago, Illinois. Designed by architects Edmund R. Krause and George L. and Cornelius Rapp, the theatre first opened its doors on New Year's Day in 1906, making it the first venue in Chicago to cost over one million dollars. The Majestic Building, which housed the theatre, quickly became a Chicago landmark and a popular destination for vaudeville acts.
Throughout its rich history, the theatre has been home to legendary performers such as Harry Houdini and Lily Langtry, and has hosted a wide array of classic plays and musicals including CAROUSEL, SOUTH PACIFIC, GUYS AND DOLLS, and many more. Under the ownership of the Shubert Organization and later the Nederlander Organization, the theatre continued to showcase top-quality theatrical productions, including the Chicago premieres of RENT, CHICAGO—THE MUSICAL, and more.
In 2005, the theatre underwent a multi-million dollar restoration and reopened as the LaSalle Bank Theatre, later becoming the Bank of America Theatre in 2008. In 2015, a partnership between Broadway In Chicago and CIBC was announced, leading to the renaming of the theatre as CIBC Theatre. Since then, the venue has hosted acclaimed productions such as HAMILTON, CABARET, KINKY BOOTS, and THE BOOK OF MORMON.
With a commitment to bringing the best of Broadway to the Chicago Theatre District, CIBC Theatre continues to be a premier destination for world-class entertainment.

Reviews
"Employees were amazing. Show was amazing! Everything was clean. Just make sure you have an extra ticket for your baby. They were very accepting of our 4 month old, but he was a perfect boy."
"The CIBC theater is a wonderful Chicago landmark theater in the heart of downtown. It was easy to find our seats and there were plenty of bathrooms on the second floor. We also appreciate that they have a bartender on a few of the floors but they probably need to have more than one servicing everybody. The sound was excellent and every seat was a good seat."
"Just saw Boop! the musical here. EXCELLENT SHOW!!! Very high quality and well executed production. Nice storyline which was very engaging and entertaining, there was no part of the show that was slow or boring. I would highly recommend it. The seating in the theater was nice and was very classy. Bathrooms were clean and the bar was well stocked."
"The staff are too over enthusiastic. They mean well but they don't allow the customers to orientate themselves. Before you've even finished climbing the last of the many steep steps, they ask for your ticket again and again or they want to forcefully guide you which can be irritating instead of giving you some time and personal space to find your own way and settle. The venue isn't also disability friendly in its design. We watched BOOP! which was good in terms of production and set and the actors and actresses had great voices but be mindful if you're not American, this show isn't as funny as the reviews suggest. The locals seem to find it way funnier than it actually is. Non- Americans will find BOOP! cheesy."
"The staff were helpful and cordial. The play I went to (To Kill A Mockingbird) was good. The seats could be a lot better for the price of the tickets. Also, the stairs ( lots of them) aren't very accessible. To accommodate huge crowds every day, something could be changed."
