"Attorney Laaksonen only has connections in the Van Buren area, so if you are looking for an attorney (and I use that term loosely) then only use if you live in that area. His lack of knowledgeable office staff/billing is ridiculous. He takes on cases that he has very little knowledge in. Poor service, I recommend not to use!"
"Friendly environment with an attorney that takes time to make sure you understand them"
"Thank you! Attorney Laaksonen and Attorney Cypher did a great job on my cases. They helped me out when they didnt have too. Worked with me on payment. Even worked on their vacation to help get me out of jail and on top of that, got the case dismissed. If u got money for an attorney , then I would hire Attorney Lasksonen or Attorney Cypher no questions asked. Couldn't be more grateful that their law office is the one I walked into. Thank you very much I appreciate what u have done for me."
"I hired Theresa with her full knowledge that my case was sloppy, a lot to sort through, and time consuming-she felt that she could do better for me than what I had experienced with a couple of other (male) attorneys. She made me feel cared for, like my voice mattered, like I had a fighting chance. Then suddenly, I wasn’t important anymore. I would email her and Jody, call and leave messages both with Jody and their office machine-to never get returned calls…. I asked Theresa to tell me what a fair amount of time to wait for a response was so that I was not getting unnecessarily impatient when I would hear nothing from my attempts and contact and she told me 24 hour hours was reasonable. Fair! More than fair in my mind from previous experience. I was completely fine with that. The next time I brought up the timeliness as it did not change from our prior conversation. I was answered with a request to sign a stipulation to withdraw stating that she felt that my case needed more time than she had. I very politely declined and asked her to continue to represent me since my hearing was so near and offered to ‘back off’ if her time was too occupied. She is technically still my attorney and I haven’t heard a peep from her since she sent me the request two weeks ago despite asking for confirmation on whether she was going to continue to represent me as agreed on or not. I hired her 6 months ago. She used much of my retainer on working on my case to prepare it for our hearing in two weeks. She said that she would ‘forgive’ my balance-which I had no problem paying! I had conveniently been sent my invoices for all of her work in one envelope only a couple of days prior to her request to withdraw. Never has this issue been about money, or lack of paying, I just wanted my attorney to know what I needed. To be fair, what I had been trying to communicate with her was regarding an issue that she allowed to be dropped off the docket when I asked for it not to, and had spent 6 months asking her to get back on the docket- summer handoff specifics that was not in our JOD. It is still not on the docket. If you want an attorney who is going to hold up to her end of the deal, my experience is unfortunately to tell you not to hire Theresa. I’m so disappointed. Not only did she really make me feel like I could trust her, she knew very well that I come from a long history of trauma and betrayal. We spent literal hours talking about it. Sad isn’t a word that can touch the level of disappointment I feel with this situation. Communication is required in a professional relationship. My experience started professionally but it really slipped off the deep end the past month or so. I find it incredibly childish to stonewall your clients, especially when you are legally someone’s representation beyond their upcoming hearing. Theresa is a very experienced attorney, I am just blown away that this is the way she has treated me. I certainly cannot think of a single reason why she could justify sabotaging my hearing by withdrawal or ignoring me and causing this kind of stress for someone who genuinely trusted her. Regardless of her own thoughts on this, the appropriate thing would be to have a rational conversation with me to explain to me on her end what she felt went wrong here. Ethical is not descriptive of doing nearly $3.5k of work on a case over the course of 6 months to then bail a month before the hearing. She has not responded to an email in over two weeks. She is not responding to requests for my file, she is not returning my calls-nor is anyone from her office."
"Maybe I'm just schizophrenic but... this woman will impart her otherworldy knowledge if given the respect and funds she requires. Only go here if you are serious. Does not deal in souls."
