Reviews of Cranbrook House & Gardens
"Crankbrook Garden Trail offered a delightful escape during our 5-mile hike with a meetup group. The unconventional path winding around houses and through the community gave the experience a touch of magic, resembling scenes from the enchanting world of Harry Potter. The picturesque surroundings provided numerous photo opportunities, making it a haven for photography enthusiasts. Additionally, the convenience of free parking added to the overall positive experience, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a unique and visually captivating outdoor adventure."
"I like this place a lot. Really a lot to explore if you go to the gardens, around the lake, the house and estate, and the arts/science campuses. Favorite place to walk nearby metro Detroit, it’s beautiful. Even if you’ve been before I’d recommend going again because chances are you’ll notice something you didn’t last time :)"
"I have been visiting these grounds for the past 10 years. Absolutely stunning all year around. In spring, the parking lot is lined up with Yoshino cherries, the magnificent Magnolia tree bursts with yellow flowers by the fountains near the house, and the weeping cherry blossoms for hanami un the promenade near the library. There are lilacs, red buds abd forsythia bushes that burst into colors each spring. Late spring sees peonies in bloom, by the reflecting pool near the house and also in the library promenade. There are mature cherry trees through out the property. Come fall, the woods turn a bright crimson. The evergreens lend an interesting touch to the snow covered grounds in the winter. The Japanese garden is stunning even in the winter. The sunken garden by the house is the star all summer. I really wish they didn't dig up the blooms first week of October and waited a few more weeks to do so. I always get a good workout by effortlessly wandering the grounds and marveling at its beauty. This is also a photographer's dream."
"The basic guided house tour gets you access to several rooms on the first level. Everything that you're allowed to see is beautiful. The final stop, The Library, is magnificent. After the house tour, be sure to spend an hour walking the grounds. There are numerous gardens that you'll want to see."
