"Mary Mims is an absolute shark in the courtroom. Her knowledge and professionalism is amazing. I would highly recommend Mary to anybody looking for a good attorney when dealing with the most outrageous, extreme litigation from the opposing party. After almost 3 years of a very insane divorce, I am thankful that I had Mary on my team."
"$275/hr and I lost pretty much everything that came up in court. At one point the lawyer literally asked me why we were at court. Yet he's charging me $275/hr for "correspondence" with my ex's attorney. So you're corresponding but yet you have no idea why we're in court today? Wow. He was completely useless in court. Didn't try fighting for me at all. I owe $6,000 (so $11,000 total). I refuse to pay it. Do yourself a favor and find a different family lawyer!"
"‘We bill by the hour’ ~Angie My mother was a client of Scholten Fant for appx 10 years, and used them for divorce proceedings and later estate planning. 18 months ago my mother passed away and my brother and I worked to close her estate and tie up the loose ends required when you lose a family member. As a part of this process we made a single call to Scholten Fant to get a copy of my mother’s will and any other relevant legal docs we may need for this process. It’s been 18 months since she passed away and we just now, for the first time, received a bill from the firm for ‘consultation services’ with late fees added in addition to their original fees. This is the first correspondence we have received from indicating a balance was due, although the firm claims they have trying to contact my brother for some time with no response. 1) It was never made clear to us that requesting a copy of my mothers documentation was a billable service. This should have been made clear at the time of the ‘consultation’ and the firm should have requested contact info if they were going to consider us a client of theirs. 2) The firm claims they have been sending and resending the bill monthly to an address they had on file. No address was ever requested at time of the ‘consultation’ or provided by us to them and they used an address my brother has not lived at for over 8 years. 3) After 18 months a simple internet search on their part turned up accurate contact info and they sent us the bill with late fees added on to it then. We responded immediately. We are perplexed and frustrated that our original request was considered a billable service considering my mothers tenure as a client of theirs, but had this been made known to us it we could have discussed and resolved then. We are also perplexed and frustrated it took them 18 months to contact us when a simple search gave them correct contact info that we immediately responded to. We should not bear the responsibility of their firm having outdated and incorrect information and not making a simple effort on their end to resolve this sooner. But, the real frustration and reason for a negative review is coming from contacting them to try and understand where the lapse in communication came from and why we were receiving an invoice since we didn’t even remember placing the call. Both my brother and I spoke with Angie separately and were met with an overly frank, curt, and inconsiderate disposition. It took an argument just to have the (relatively insignificant) late fees waived on the invoice. At multiple points in the conversation, when pushing back on them, the only response we could get was ‘We bill by the hour... we bill by the hour’ and we were told if we did not pay the bill it would be heading to collections soon, which honestly, felt like a threat. We plan to pay the bill, less the late fees, as soon as possible and would not recommend working with this team unless you are specifically looking for a firm who’s interested in billing you by the hour."
"Betten Baker Chevy hosed me on two car deals and I legitimately won decisions for a total of $6750 but this law firm asked the judge to set the judgement aside, which she did and to dismiss my cases with prejudice, which she did. I have proof which I admitted into evidence but for some reason the judge chose rule in favor of the dealership."
"I was told Mary Mims was the best. She told me walking into court not to worry as the divorce had been finalized and I had nothing to worry about. She said nothing as my ex and his attorney told blatant lies. She did nothing I had requested her to follow up on or fix. And now, years later, is suing me for money supposedly owed her! And I have no way to prove anything! I would not recommend her or this place to my worst enemy."
