Reviews of Sleeping Tiger Imports
"This store is definitely not what it once was. After the way I was treated I will never go in again. I made a large cash purchase, walked 2 steps out the door and changed my mind about giving them my hard earned cash after all. Decided to return the items but was told they would not return the cash I literally just handed them!!! They said it would have to be store credit. To be honest, I am not even certain that is legal, but I will find out!! The "manager" on the phone sounded high and the whole enterprise just seems crooked and sketchy now."
"This store is lovely! It’s a little bit on the expensive side, but most of the items are very high quality and beautiful. I love going here by myself or with friends, it never disappoints! It has helped my spiritual journey along, and my business grow. If you don’t buy anything, it’s worth visiting to look at all of the beautiful masterpieces! We haven’t gotten accused of stealing, but I do recommend being careful! The Sleeping Tiger in Portage mall and Grand Rapids mall is safe, as I’ve seen."
"I always love to go there to get bamboo and their decor. but I won't be going ever again. First off when I was paying for the bamboo the person running the cash register was on call with a fellow worker whom they had on speaker. The person that was on the phone was very rude when the cash resister worker was asking a question WHILE they were checking my items out. after they ended the call the register worked(no name tag, had dark brown/black short hair that is swept to one side) noted that the other worker was in a bad mood. my friend and I got distracted by the items by the front desk and continued to look around after my purchase and to my disgust I found this "tank." I have been in the fish business for a bit off time now and I can tell you THAT IS NOT A TANK! I mentioned to my friend not to the worker that I felt bad for the fish since he does not have a filter nor heater. the worker (who I wasnt even talking to) quite rudely replied that "its actually okay for that type to be in there with the bacteria." For starters "that type of fish" is an adult male crown tail betta. which are TROPICAl FISH. which means they need a heater for their water to be at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. they also need a filter. keeping a fish without a filter is the equalivent to never cleaning a hamster cage and letting the filth and waste build up until the animal gets sick and dies. if you zoom in on the picture you can see at the bottom of the tank a collection of uneaten food and fish poop piling up. I also don't know what type of "bacteria" the worker thinks is in that tank to make this okay but no such thing exists. I will not be returning until that poor fish is in a real tank. fish, like all pets are living creatures that do not deserve to be mistreated. I understand that it is a common misconception among many non fish owners that bettas do good in small bowls with no heater or filter. but if any store worker simply did a google search they would find that bettas need better housing than that. they may survive in a tiny bowl but they will not be happy or live long just the same as a hamster wouldn't live long. I am writing this review in hopes that something will be done about this and to educate the staff and others about the needs of living creatures. not only is it bad for the betta they have but its also misinformation to all of the customers that visit and see these "tanks" that are advertised for fish when in fact there should be kept only for plant tanks. If for any reason there is an issue re-homing this beautiful fish please contact me. I will be more than happy to take him home with me where he would be very happy in any of my 5gal+ tanks that are fully cycled and ready to go. please do not hesitate to contact me, I would love to help"
"Visiting town for brother's college orientation and my younger sister and I were walking around the mall. We decided to check out this store because it sounded interesting and we saw some items we might like. This older lady was working in the back part of the store and didn't bother to greet us. No big deal, probably didn't see us or hear us. We're looking around and see some flower crowns. It took a couple "excuse me", at the point I just asked, "how much are these flower crowns", I got a price and kept looking around. At that point we were about done and started to leave when my younger sister accidentally tripped. At this point the older lady snapped at us and stated harshly, "Hey, no running in this store please". We were just confused and shocked at this point. We just left after that, nice items inside but not very welcoming at all."
"Retail doesn't seem to update anymore & your staff is very hit & miss about who they'd like to help/speak to. I stopped in looking for a specific charm the store use to carry & they no longer do (that happens) but when the employee finally emerged after 5 minutes of 6 customers milling around the store, he helped everyone else. Won't be visiting again due to stock never changing & customer service being sketchy at best & will be redirecting friends & family to other similar stores in the area."
