"First of all, I would like to state that the proprietor of this property is very nice. I am therefore slightly reluctant to write the truth about our stay there, but it is a disservice to others not to do so. The two-story apartment itself is okay, by that I mean it is adequately large and located just three blocks from downtown in a quiet neighborhood that is easily accessible, albeit with a pretty steep climb from main Street. However, there are some issues with the amenities that might or might not be important to people who wish to stay. Although the place is advertised as having a full kitchen, it is not possible to really cook there. The baking and cooking vessels are sparse, and there are no knives at all with the exception of steak knives so it is not possible to chop, pare, etc. There aren't any premium channels on the sole television, and what there is as far as channels does not include a guide. Personally, I do not really watch TV when I am on Mackinac Island, however, I know that is of some importance to others. It did bother me that there is absolutely no reliable internet service. I ended up using over 75% of my allotted data for my phone in a matter of 4 days. Although the house unit does appear to be relatively neat, if you look closely, it is not all that clean. There is evidence of cobwebs, much dust, and most troublesome to my sister was the mouse that ran across the floor in the living room and all of the rodent infestation markings that are quickly observed merely by opening lower cupboard doors in the kitchen. Being an animal lover, this did not bother me as much, but what I could not appreciate was that the horse that is located directly across from the property is in a miserable, tiny little area with no pasture, no room to run or barely even walk, and no way to access his stable on his own.The furniture is fairly adequate, but outdated and includes uncomfortable old bureaus with sticking drawers, lamps that fall apart at a touch, no shelving or tables in the bathroom to put anything on, generally lacking in the comforts of home. The bedding is pretty sparse with hard pillows and no extra blankets. The furniture was in bad need of updating and the furnace itself was obviously dirty. Whenever you had the heat on, you had to endure the smell of what I can only describe as melting crayons or burning plastic. (For summer visitors, there is no air conditioning.) One of the shades in the living room was torn into several pieces, the shade in the main bedroom could not even be pulled down, and in the living room there is a pull out couch located next to a sliding glass door that has no shade at all so it would be hard to sleep in there once the sun came up. Although I am not aware of any crime on the island, it should be noted that the front door could be opened with any credit card, is there is no chain nor deadbolt, and the inside doors don't have any locks on them at all. This place was not lesser in price than any of the many others so we would definitely try another place when we go back to the island."
"We stayed at this location a few years back. It was a great place to stay. Loved walking out and petting the horse that stays directly across the street."
"We are VERY IMPRESSED with Trish and the Voyageur. The apartment is well appointed and couldn’t have been cleaner. The furniture and bed are comfy. Very quiet. We have found a home away from home! Thanks Trish Martin and Earl Grey!!"
"Spacious and clean! Nice to have a full kitchen. Great price. Trish is the best!"
"We stayed in the large unit. Very accommodating and homey. Excellent value. Off the main Street but very short walk to the center of town. We will be back!"
