Reviews of Potawatomi State Park
"Nestled on the shore of picturesque Sturgeon Bay, this is a wonderful campground to enjoy the quiet and more secluded areas of the Door Peninsula. A natural comparison would be drawn to its big brother, Peninsula State Park. Where Peninsula is large, built up and it seems continually full, this location looks to be the more reserved of the two. Though smaller, it comes with a respectable amount of trails, a beautiful waterfront, and the convenience of the local amenities of Sturgeon Bay. The campsites are well looked after, the bathrooms finely equipped and clean, and the variety of campsites quite robust. The fall colors we experienced and the subtle sounds of the nearby shore were very enjoyable, and we made full use of the well maintained trails. If you're looking to camp in Door County, but would enjoy the utility of being close to a larger town, then this is an excellent spot. We will almost certainly be back here."
"Great campground… spacious sites, easy to navigate, and didn’t see a single mosquito!! The bathrooms/showers are nice and central to the campground, so depending where your site is, you may be a little far from them. Super easy to hop on the Ice Age Trail along Lake Michigan. We walked the shoreline to the White Rocket (not sure of it’s significance or history but here’s a picture)!"
"This park is beautiful for fall colors early to late October. We snapped these in 2022 & our family enjoyed the vivid oranges, reds, yellows, greens, and purples, Autumn provides us! Plenty of hiking trails while you enjoy your coffee with benches & scenic places along the way! Autumn & Winter are our favorite times of year here. No bugs to worry about."
"Spent a few hours walking the tower trail/ ice age trail through the woods and along the coast. Beautiful trails. Variety of plant species and big tall gorgeous trees! The water is clear and refreshing once you get there. All of the beauty of nature is quite a refreshing and resetting getaway!"
"Very nice family oriented campground, with a lot of pretty nice trails, some designated as bike ones some as walking ones, as well as a section of the ice age trail coming through this park. They also have a very large boat landing that looked to be used for all sorts of boaters as canoeing and kayaking is also popular in this park and they rent them out as well as tubes and bicycles at there camp store, which is also surprisingly well packed with various goods and camp supplies, provided you forgot something or just need a souvenir from your visit there. Other attractions are some nice views of the lake and the cliffs as you drive to the boat landing, as well as a nice overlook near the tower, but unfortunately the tower is currently down due to repairs so no one is allowed on it as of now. Also they have a large dock for the kids to fish off of near a really nice paved trail and lots of places to picnic along the lake side, there definitely worth a look if you're looking for a nice family friendly place to camp."
