"They have ruined not only months of planning to have family visit the USA for the first time but the spirit of my family. After 2 deaths in our family this year we worked hard to have family we haven't seen for 20 years to visit finally. They treated them like a criminal and continued to change the information they were given to fit their narrative. They have zero compassion for their fellow man or fellow country men. They interrogated me on the phone 3 times asking the same questions which did not change but each time the new officer had it wrong. I am not naive to the fact there are bad people trying to do bad things in this world but the complete disregard and disrespect that they portrayed not only to a born and raised US citizen but a person coming to what many believe to be a dream trip but now has been cast as a nightmare country with uncaring and rude people. So thanks Detroit customs for destroying peoples hopes."

"Avoid this airport at all costs. I am a speed skater training at the Utah Olympic oval. All my details are on the Internet and there is a lot of proof supporting that. I train with American coaches who have represented America at the Olympics! I had a connecting flight to salt lake city that I missed because of This young officer who kept me for almost an hour in his cabin because he knows nothing about how sports work globally. He said I was not eligible to travel like this for so long and probably thought I come to make money where in fact I am only paying for my ice training, race fees, rent and food plus taxes on all. I have a supportive family that pays for my Olympic dream and also some private sponsors! I am the pioneer from my country in the sport of ice speed skating. India does not have the coaching or infrastructure for ice skating so I need to and have travelled all over the world including many times to the States but never been embarrassed like this! He said I will not be admissible in the country if I keep coming like this on my visa! My life is hard enough to travel without teammates and manage everything on my own. I get respect wherever I go for my journey has been full of sacrifices and hardwork. Even if you are doing everything legal , people like this officer will try to find ways to make your life miserable. I will remember this incident for the rest of my life. A sarcastic Thank you to that officer who put me through this on Christmas! Ignorance is bliss but hope you get some insight on how some sports work and a little global knowledge will not hurt!"
