Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's 1517 16th Street Southwest, Rochester, MN 55902

"This hotel is a great value. My wife and I stayed here while I was being treated at Mayo Clinic; we were charged the "Mayo rate," which was comparable to hotels having far fewer amenities. The standard room has plenty of space with desk, side chair, and hassock. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. There is an large enclosed courtyard with hot tub, pool, water slide, and kiddie pool. A great place to hang out and get some daylight when it is 20 degrees outside. The building is well kept by maintenance people who can be seen working throughout the day. The small kiosk by the front desk sells snacks, beer, wine, and soft drinks. A restaurant/sports bar is attached to the building and can be reached via a short walk from the hotel lobby. Breakfast includes eggs, potatoes, and meat as hot entries. It's even within walking distance of a Natural Grocers supermarket. We've stayed here twice while visiting Mayo Clinic and will do so again. It is a 5 to 10 minute drive to the clinic and there is a shuttle if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed both of our stays and really like this hotel."

"Most of the reviews are lies. Of course there will be a strong smell of chlorine. It's a water park. Everything else is nice and neat. Only problem was the children who are ride disrespectful illmannered. Parents of children did nothing to keep them under control. Children should be banned from the hot tub by the pool."

"Booked for a 1 night stay for a birthday party in November 2023. Kids had fun! They loved the slide. Toddler area was very popular as well. Had no issues with check in. They were nice enough to let us come early to decorate the room. Front desk staff and housekeeping were friendly. Room was clean. I didn't have any issues. I would recommend a birthday party here. We had the room next to pool. It can get loud if you're sleeping early, but what do u expect when you're right next to the fun."

"We booked this hotel for 2 nights for the pool area for the kids. I was highly disappointed with it. It was freezing cold! My child swam for 10 minutes then asked to get out and would not go back in again. Kids were swimming in the hot tub to stay way, packed in like sardines. The room was outdated and not the cleanest. We couldn’t check in at check in time due to our room not being cleaned. This would be a great facility if the rooms were cleaner and they figured out the pool situation."

"Friendly staff, decent rooms, good breakfast, and a really cool indoor pool area. Other reviewers mention the chlorine smell, which was noticeable but not horrible in the pool area. I mean, considering that there is a kiddie pool, regular size pool with a water slide, and a hot tub all in this indoor area, it smells pretty much the way I expected it to. Personally I thought this was one of the best hotel swimming pools I've seen in a budget hotel. Would definitely stay here again if ever in the area."
