"An employee named Matthew, and David Gale, the owner, were very helpful today. I had misjudged the color I thought I needed for our kitchen/laundry area, so Matthew spent a lot of time trying to adjust the color of the original 2 gallons of paint to match the color of a switch plate I provided. Both men were very patient and kind as they worked on my problem and also served several other customers. When the new color mix didn't work out, David wouldn't let me compensate the store for the new paint they gave me to replace the original gallons. What a gracious unexpected kindness! This store in Northville will always be my #1 Paint Store because of their thoughtfulness, persistence, and dedication to solving my problem today!"
"I've been here before and the employees have been very friendly. This past visit was disappointing. I picked out a stain that I don't remember the name of, I was just asked by my customer to choose something darker than the current stain and so after viewing color samples took one up to the counter and ordered two gallons. As I opened up the can to start my job, I was totally disappointed at what looked to be several shades lighter than the color I needed. It even looked dramatically lighter after applied (and dried) on deck than the actual picture of it online. Thing is, I'm almost positive I didn't order this particular stain, which is Sand Castle, as I don't recall that name at all, so I wonder if there was a mistake in mixing it. When I took the two cans into the store and asked a different employee if he could tell a color difference between the stain and the picture of the exact same stain on Sherwin Williams website, he said yes, not realizing that what I was showing him were the same things. Once I told him that they're supposed to be the same color, he said some stains look different online, which begs the question, why post them online if they look different. So we started looking around the store for a sample of Sand Castle to compare to the stain I have and he took a phone call and was busy with that for 5-10 minutes without even asking me if I minded if he helped another customer. Not sure if he forgot about me or not. So I left, and now I have $70 worth of stain that I'll never use because I didn't double check what employees were doing. Once again, they're not bad people and generally very friendly, they just could've a)double checked with me that I was receiving the order I wanted and b) at least let me know that they'll be spending several extra minutes dealing with another customer as I'm waiting for them. Also, couldn't find color samples out on the floor. One more thing, the day before I purchased the stain, I stopped in to ask if they could match one of their stains to my picture, and the employee said they don't have that technology. He didn't offer to look at the picture and give me his advice on what he thought was best, and I feel like that could've helped out a lot if he did. And the accompanying picture has the current stain on the left and what I hoped would be a shade darker on the right."
