"We have a large side yard with mature old trees that needed to have a lot of topsoil added to smooth out the lawn before reseeding it. I worked with Debbie at Country Oaks to get a special mix of 50% topsoil, 25% compost and 25% sand. I was concerned that it would not be 100% screened as I've experienced with their 50/50 mix. In the end we agreed to a higher cost/yard and in return I received an excellent product that was 100% screened and easy to use in my application. For me it was worth the additional cost for the sand and rescreening as it reduced my labor and made for a very professional result."
"BEWARE of the Grade A soil. Bought 6 yards of it to level out my yard. There’s so much rock, wire, glass and wood pieces in it. I’ve had to buy a screen to remove all the debris in the soil. It’s quadrupled the amount of time it’s taking me to level out my yard. I did call Country Oaks Clarkston prior to writing this review. All I got was “I’m sorry” from them! So on top of horrible top soil, they have terrible customer service too! Finally finished screening their screened Grade A top soil. The photos below are now updated to how much junk is in the screened soil. The photos is only 3/4 of the debris in the 6 yards of soil I ordered. The other 1/4 was put in garbage cans for the pasted two weeks for my local trash pickup. Vernor’s can added to show scale. Absolutely horrible quality screened top soil! NEVER AGAIN!!"
"Great service. I called on a Monday to have multiple yards of dirt and mulch delivered on the following Friday. We left markers in the driveway and all the product was left neatly where we wanted it. On Saturday morning we needed a few yards of stone delivered and within a few hours it too was neatly delivered. About the product: I bought grade a topsoil and it was clean, free of debris and without bugs (I’ve had spider infestations in the past with other companies). The triple shredded mulch was clean, free of debris, dry and overall perfect! The pea gravel was also clean. I will continue to use this company for all my landscape needs and will recommend to others. The staff was quick, knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. Great company and service. Thank you."
"Great experience from start to finish! Kathy was wonderful to work with. She was patient and helpful when answering all my questions about stone options, quantity calculations, & pricing. Once my decision was made, scheduling was easy and they were able to deliver the stone quickly. Due to the quantity needed, my order had to be split into two deliveries. I originally scheduled the second delivery 2 weeks out from the first in order to give us enough time to move the first load to the flowerbeds. We were able to move the first load that weekend, so I called Kathy on Monday morning to inquire about having the second load delivered earlier than the scheduled day. They delivered the second load that afternoon (almost 2 weeks earlier than scheduled)! Due to their quick response, we were able to finish our project the next day while the weather was cooler. The delivery driver did a fantastic job placing the stone piles for both deliveries exactly where we had designated with a tarp. Thanks Country Oaks! We'll be back when we need more supplies."
"Well, they were pretty good until this delivery. When I ordered and paid, I told them I would provide a map of where I want it dumped. Called yesterday to get the email address to send the map. I was home when it was delivered but the driver never bothered to ring the bell or knock on the door (our dogs would have gone nuts - no way to miss it). He dumped the topsoil in the driveway on the other side of the house from where I had marked. Either wasn't told or didn't bother. Either way, apparently they don't communicate with each other, even when I gave explicit instructions. Now I have to rent a bulldozer to move the dirt out of the driveway asap. Trying to upload the map to prove how crystal clear my instructions were. Update: I have tried repeatedly to get them to settle this dispute, but my recent certified mail was actually refused. The lady in their office never even acknowledged the error or offered ANY kind of rebate, refund, or any other means of making this right. Court it is....SMH"
