Reviews of Inn On Madeline Island
"Our daughter got married there over the weekend. It was fantastic! We originally booked the venue when another person at the Inn was managing. (She is no longer there). We were not getting much attention until Julie, the new Pub manager, took over and made it an absolute perfect weekend! Her attention to detail, get it done attitude and kind spirit was the icing on the cake. Julie was the best as well as her awesome staff! Thank you from all of our family. The bride and groom are so grateful for a memorable experience"
"My fiance and I booked our room for Apple Fest. We booked here due to the location on Madeline Island and the amenities the room had along with being next store to a restaurant. The day we were going to arrive I double checked my email to ensure everything was set, I noticed it said I would get a "prepare for your stay" email that I never got so I called the Inn to make sure everything was still in order. They ensured it was and sent me the email I was missing. The email stated that the pub was open 7 days a week until Oct 22nd. Great! We get there, the pub was closed, along with all of the common areas in the hotel, not a huge deal. We get to our room, and one of the 2 beds were clearly slept in and not changed out. The lamps next to our bed were taken off the wall. The jacuzzi (which we were most excited about) had grime/sand and hair in it. I called to have a change of sheets, no room service or anyone to answer the phone. I called the emergency number for the hotel as that was the only option and left a message. I get a call from the maintenance man, saying he will "drop off sheets" for us. I have NEVER been expected to change dirty sheets at a hotel, crazy. He did, drop off sheets. However, for an over 500 dollar stay, I'm not changing out dirty sheets. The next morning we went to the front desk and said we had some concerns we'd like to talk about regarding our room. The first thing the person at the desk said was " best thing to do is send an email". Well there's another concern - no one is here to listen? Nope. I then asked when room service would be able to clean our room. "We don't have any room service today." She explained she was just a fill in as no one in charge is there .... so for our entire stay there was no room service. We asked to have cleaning supplies sent to our room so we'd be able to try and at least enjoy our jacuzzi. She said she would see if the maintenance guy could bring us some. They ended up having someone clean our room. Only addressing the bed and the jacuzzi - no one replaced our towels when it said to leave towels on the floor for them to be replaced. I'm not sure what hotel runs without having any sort of room service, or a manager available. I've never heard of anything like that. So we were there to celebrate our engagement, but we had to worry about cleaning our own room while we were there. We were very happy with the room in general, it was a great room. Extremely disappointed with having an uncleaned room - no room service - and no real hospitality- along with having said the pub would be open, and it wasn't. I emailed the Inn asking someone to reach out to us, and have not heard a thing."
"We stayed in a bungalow on the golf course. The layout of the room was nice and the walk in shower was cool. The problems started with the tv stopped working on Saturday. Call the front desk and emergency numbers and got no response. Also went to the office on Saturday afternoon and it was closed. Sunday morning went to take a shower and had zero water pressure again no response. Also the room had no end or coffee tables. For the prices they charge for a room I expected a better experience. Would not recommended staying there."
"Wonderful location on Lake Superior. Great rooms and nice area. Pool area could use some TLC. Lots of sand on bottom, hot tub only a "lukewarm" tub. Also, gapping holes in pool fence could be fixed. Would return and liked my stay here."
"My husband and I tried to enjoy our honeymoon here and ultimately ended up leaving early after what was a truly miserable experience. We visited on a warm weekend and the air conditioner was not working. It was over 80 degrees in our room during the day and 80 degrees at night when we tried to sleep there. We ultimately ended up not being able to sleep in our room at all and slept with our family who were also staying in town while we were on our honeymoon. The biggest issue is that there was no one available to help us while the air conditioning wasn’t working. The number for emergencies listed in the room was disconnected and there were ZERO staff at the hotel. Their solution was to give us a 25% refund AND make us pay for the night even after we left early as we had such an awful time. Overall, the experience was as disappointing as it could possibly be. The island has a special place in our hearts as it has been a long time family tradition (over 30 years), but we will unfortunately never be returning to the inn or recommending to anyone that we know."
