National Car Rental - Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX)

"Waited in the lobby for over an hour for a representative to show up at the counter. Have a rental confirmed during their business hours, (9pm). Left without a rental car which puts a massive hindrance on my plans. I have tried calling multiple numbers with no answers, this would have been my first time renting here. Solid first impression National. I will never be back."

"Not a great experience at this location. They didn't have the car level that I reserved, so instead I got this huge minivan that was a boat to drive. It had a huge stain on the seat and the interior was very beat up, over 30,000 miles on this thing. The oil change light is on at pickup and neither the front or back wipers have ever been replaced, so driving during a downpour was difficult. If there was another car rental agency, I would have used that one. They get two stars because the guy was friendly at the counter, but they didn't have any other cars, every single one was rented."

"Rental pickup was easy, however I returned my rental a day early (and was told at pickup time that if I did return the vehicle early I would not be charged for that day) and was charged on my credit card for the full original rental, no credit issued. After calling 7 times with no answer and leaving 4 messages about my situation (asking each time for a resolution and a CALL BACK on this issue, I was not afforded either a credit or the customer respect of a return call. I finally took my iisue up with National corporate to which I was treated with respect and given a credit. Poor customer service at the CMX Airport location."

"Was very dissatisfied with the service here. I booked my rental the night before and noticed there were 7 rentals available. As I got to the place of business, I was waiting 30 minutes for a representative to come to the counter. Then this representative proceeds to tell me that he has no rentals available until Sunday. Well I didn’t believe him because he said that he called me to inform me of this situation but I had NO missed calls or messages from him so I know he was lying. So after wasting my time and money to get there, I ended up leaving without a rental and having to cancel my appointment. But not before noticing the very car I picked out for my rental PARKED RIGHT IN THE RENTAL LOT!!!! This person has no business being in this profession as he has no clue how to act as a representative of the company or how to run a rental business and has a big issue with lying to the customers face. Not happy at all with the lack of customer service this company has"

"Absolutely awful. The desk is never staffed at “open” hours. We’ve had a scheduled pick-up that there were no employees at the desk to obtain a car, tried to get the car the last 2 days. How this has a high rating as a business is an absolute mystery. Do not schedule a rental from here."
