"Awful experience. The employees here need to go sit down and take a dang break because I’m tired of being harassed every single time I come here. Everyone thinks you’re shop lifting. Today I went and we were in the back of spencer’s just standing there (me and my friend are clearly YOUNG WOMEN) and this old man comes over and just stands there and is like “i’ll be back here if you have any questions” and he was NOT even back there before. If I was browsing the adult section, I sure as hell would not want to be watched. He literally just sits there and stares at you. Creepy."

"I’m not sure if the Caucasian man with the grey beard at the 12 Oaks Mall location is management or an associate, but he made me feel extremely uncomfortable 2 days ago. I went to the 12 store to purchase a new pair of earrings. I asked him (he was standing behind the counter) if he could open the case so I could look at a pair. He proceeded to open the case and immediately told me the price of the earrings (which I didn’t ask for) and stood there looking at me without handing me the earrings. For context, these earrings were literally $13.99. I ignored this strange behavior and I asked if there was a mirror anywhere in the store for me to hold the earrings up to my ear to see if I liked them. He walks me to a mirror (still holding the earrings) & finally hands them to me. As I’m looking in the mirror, I looked out the corner of my eye and he was standing directly behind me with his arms crossed as I looked at the earrings. VERY uncomfortable and extremely strange, especially because there was a store full of customers whom he was ignoring just to focus on me. Oh let me not forget to mention, I’m African American, so it’s very apparent what this was all about. I told him I’d like to purchase the earrings, but in the meantime, I’d like to keep looking at more. He proceeds to take the earrings back from me and lock them back up in the case. Not place them on hold like I had requested. I’m not sure who this man is, and I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this store has issues with theft and this was his way of being some kind of deterrent? Idk, but as a very grown woman who has far more than $13.99 to spend, I can guarantee that I won’t be spending another dollar at Spencers & this man needs to attend some race and equity training desperately. Not every back person you see plans on stealing."

"Racist old man shamelessly followed me around the store for 20 minutes til I was uncomfortable enough to leave without buying anything. Y’all should be ashamed of yourselves Update: upon reading other reviews I’m really reassured with my perception of how it was there. I’m seeing a lot of the same complaints over and over. Sad."

"the employees here follow you around, eavesdrop on the conversations you have, and sales pitch constantly. the multiple reviews that say similar things to this seriously aren't lying! it's really offputting and uncomfortable."

"cool store lots of cute stuff but i wish the staff wouldn't follow me around everywhere. employees make it so obvious they're watching you especially the older guy who I think is the manager. I respect wanting to keep thieves from stealing but it makes me really uncomfortable. also the employees at the register trying to convince you to buy more stuff after me already declining makes me feel weird. again i know yall are just trying to do your job but there are other ways to handle certain things."
