"We went to Red Barn/Painted Turtle for the Turkey Reuben sandwich. I couldn’t resist eating my entire sandwich. Wife, Denise had the presence of mind to savor it and save half for a later date. The accompanying fries were delicious, too. Met some visitors from Holland and San Lake. Had a great visit with owner, Barb Roth."
"My husband & I went to Painted Turtle on April 14 as something fun to do on a day off work. We had an hour drive from our home in Allegan County. I had fallen in love with 2 of Painted Turtle's ciders (Cranberry Craze & Heartseed Berry) over the last month when we ate at 2 different Holland restaurants. We really enjoyed their primarily dry ciders bursting with fruit flavor (especially Four Medley & Blueberry in addition to the 2 I knew we already liked). The issue with Painted Turtle is their high cost. They only had single cans available which were $7 - 8 EACH & no 4 pack, 6 pack, or cases available! They do fill growlers (64 oz) & half growlers (32 oz), but their glass cost for a new growler was at least $8. They will refill your own 64 oz growler (from anywhere) for about $20. We had forgotten to bring our empty growlers from home so we will need to take a trip back with them sometime we are in NE GR anyway. We did buy just a few cans before we left. Another bummer is that Painted Turtle does not sell their hard cider in any retail places. The person who served us tastings kinda scoffed when I asked her the question & replied, "oh, that's SO expensive!"."
"Outstanding experience. Delicious cider, and a nicely laid-out area to taste and enjoy it in. Store has ice cream, some produce, gift goods, and dairy, like a delightful old-time general store might have. Lovely, intimate, small-town feel that makes you feel like a local. The cider was incredible; I highly recommend all the ones I tried (Traditional, Apple Crisp, Michigan Medley, Cozy Cabin, BlackBerry). I might have to go back soon for more Cozy Cabin (spiced cranberry) because I couldn't stop thinking about that the whole drive home. Looking forward to future visits!"
"Great Customer Service Cute Atmosphere Great Cider Definitely will be back"
"Great ciders & enjoyed our food. Friendly people! Not very crowded, so a nice place for a relaxed dinner with the family. Plenty of games and toys to keep everyone occupied. We will definitely be back."
