"This bookstore has such a great selection of new and used books including books set in DC. I’ve really enjoyed chatting with the owner & getting his opinions & recommendations on books to read. Thank you!"
"Great book store, so many interesting books that you want to read but don’t have the time to"
"Lots of books, even piled under tables. A bit hard to navigate and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke the whole time we were there."
"I was very impressed by the wide and deep selection at this store. Admittedly, I was expecting that it might have just new fiction bestsellers to cater to short-term visitors wanting a "beach read" but it actually had a truly terrific selection of new and used books. I managed to find and buy books about 20th century ocean liner design, NY Art Deco buildings, German operations in Crimea in the Second World War, English castles, and the collapse of the Soviet military in the early 1990s. Each was marked down significantly from publisher price. It was a great find and I will make a point to come back next time I am in town. Of special note are the extensive shelves focused on Wisconsin and various other US subjects, broken down by state and region."
"I stopped at this bookseller's business 20 years prior during my honeymoon (yes, we are the kind of people who stop at a used bookstore on their honeymoon in Door County... still married though, so there you go.) I found some paperback Conan the Barbarian books that I had never seen before and picked them up. They turned out to actually be out of print copies that the stories from were completely unavailable and haven't been obtainable since. Was a great find. After I bought my books, the owner who was super nice said that now he could tell me where the other used bookstores were in the area, which made me laugh and was much appreciated. They had lots of amazing books then so I was excited to stop by and see them again. Same owner as 20 years ago, which in my mind tells you that they are definately doing something right to be in business that long. The location has changed since then, and they have a second location now, but it was still a great selection at very good prices. Average prices were half or less of the original hardcover prices for books. Picked up the entire series of Pier's Anthony Incarnations of Immortality (7 books in all) all in hardcover for an average price of $5-6 a book, less than the amazon price for softcover. Perfect bindings, no scent of must or mold in anything. A great place, highly recommend. As a fun side note, I asked him if he recalled the Conan books from 20 years back and he actually did. He mentioned those being pretty memorable finds."
