Reviews of Thornton's Campgrounds
"Very very poor conditions. The whole camp grounds are run down! All beds were dirty, sheets never washed and all full of sand. Asked for a quick redo on all beds and the owner came over slobbering drunk trying to tell us everything was just clean. Later that night my kid went to use the bathroom and the toilet fell through the floor. I will never go back!! Stay clear you have been warned!"
"We had a great time! It was my brother's birthday and we all celebrated big time! Our campsite (for tents) was perfect. We heard the coyotes on the second night near our site. It was very cool and a little scary but in a good way. We're all country people anyway and hoped to enjoy the nature at it's fullest. Saw an eagle up in the tree right behind my brother's and sister in laws site. I wish I had gotten a picture! Fishing across the street was good for my brother who caught 8 bass into the afternoon! Live music outside at the bar but we didn't go because we "embibed" enough already but we could hear some of the music and it was nice. No cell service for most of us but that didn't matter. Hopefully we'll be back this fall. Thank you Thornton's! Sincerely, Karl N., Debbie, George and Cindy L. Felicia and Jazz"
"Website is a tad misleading. Very primitive Camper sites. Campground is run down but bathrooms once found where very nice. Remember your quarters though....Pay shower.....it took my first 2 mins to warm the water even with sinks running as instructions stated. We made it a great time time and the area is amazing."
"We planned to spend some time away from the big city and do some white water rafting over the weekend. Thornton's turned out to be an excellent choice. We reached in the afternoon and Mark gave us a quick overview of the places around. Just opposite the campgrounds, was a man made small beach where folks could camp. Also, round the corner there was a good music concert with 7 bands. Evening well spent. That whole area is a bit remote in terms of food, so keep food to prepare. The cabins at the campground have cooking facility with flame stove along with fridge and microwave, which was very nice. We rented a 2 bed cabin. Bar opens at 10 am and you have an option of pizzas there as well. The lady at the bar is very polite and helpful. Phone network might be patchy. Overall very pleasant experience. Would come back again for ATVs."
"This was one of the best camping trips I have ever been on. To start of our trip we arrived to the campground and our site was so huge and private. Also really enjoyed not having to lug bundles of back and forth they have it already before you arrive. I really recommend going white water rafting. Our guides name was Doug and he was phenomenal. Throughout the trip he made sure we were safe, comfortable, and had the correct knowledge. In every situation he was able to act fast and get everyone to safety. The best tour guide ever!! He deserves a raise!!!!!!!!"
