"The dr and staff are friendly, however time is not super important here and I was getting my 1 year old tested. Doors were still locked for my 9am appt (they tell you to arrive 15 min early) and I called the office to let them know. I wasn’t taken back until 9:45am and not seen until at least 10am. We were the first people in the waiting room and they took other adults back for shots consistently and left us in the waiting room as my one year old got overly tired for her 10am nap. It would be helpful if your office could be more considerate of scheduled appointment times, especially for young children."
"I have been going to Kenwood consistently for a few years now however they continually had the wrong phone number in their system. In fact, the phone number they were contacting was of a family member who I am no longer in contact with due to safety reasons. I asked them to change my phone number on four separate occasions both in person and over the phone. However they continued to text this phone number of someone I no longer talk to about my appointments. I drove 30 minutes to the office only to find out they were closed, and I was not notified. I asked why I was not and the reason was once again they contacted the phone number I had asked them to change four times. I also found the hours to be very inconvenient and very hard to get ahold of them, I switched offices where the doctor was able to get me in quickly and had no issue with them contacting the correct phone number. If you are at this office, see Dr. Decco. He treated me for my whole life and is nothing short of amazing. It is too bad this situation had caused me to get inadequate care."
"The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. I saw PA Karla Ostaszewski. Shut explained everything that I needed to know and stayed and answered all of my questions. She then recommended the right over the counter allergy medications that she felt would work best for me. I all currently taking the shots to hopefully eliminate the need for everyday meds."
"I took my son in for allergy testing, and he was very distressed from the needle skin testing. I decided to stop the test before finishing. Dr. Decco and the nurse were very understanding and not judgmental of stopping due to my sons distress. I really appreciated their understanding."
"Extremely unhappy with the care I received at Kenwood Allergy & Asthma Center - Macomb office. I was told my appointment would be at 1:15, and that I would need to arrive 15 minutes early. When I got there, the doors were locked for lunch. I was taken back to an exam room well after my appointment time. I then sat with the exam room door open and watched the NP who was supposed to do my allergy testing treat another client during my appointment time. This went on for 75 minutes. When Joan O’Lear finally came into the exam room, she asked me several questions before stating she would not skin test me, even though that was what the appointment was booked for. I have been breaking out in hives all over my body since Christmas of 2019 with no known reason. After having to go to urgent care for a steroid shot, my discharge paperwork urged skin testing ASAP due to the severity of my allergic reaction. Joan, however, stated that since I have no allergic history, if she were to skin test me she “wouldn’t know what was causing the hives.” She told me I could take up to six antihistamines a day (3 in the morning, 3 at night), and if this didn’t keep the hives under control, she would “be happy” to skin test me in three months. I received a bill in the mail earlier this week for $122 for her “services.” I am absolutely appalled at my experience."
