Reviews of Melissa K. Hultman, PA-C
"She was very nice and respectful she was clear on what she thought was going on and she gave me some tips that I have followed. She was amazing overall she is a great doctor!"
"We actually see Melissa in Dowagiac and she has seen my kids for three years and she has been great. She is kind and compassionate to my three girls and very knowledgeable with any issues they have had. We absolutely love her."
"My son has been sick for 4 month's now she's supposed to be his PCP and she has not to helped him in any way , but since I took him to a Children's hospital of my choice instead of her's she chose to call CPS out of anger . Would not recommend her or the facility she work's for ."
"At first, Ms. Hultman was a fantastic medical provider. Then my daughter was weaned from Zoloft and put on Buspar for anxiety. I am a single mother of 3 with narcolepsy and other health issues, so everything from memory to consciousness and the basic ability to function are varying levels of possible, depending upon the day. Our first unfortunate experience with the office was in the form of her M.A. calling my phone several times per day after Ms. Hultman prescribed a sedative to help ease the transition. Once I was able to answer her call, the M.A. very rudely advised me of how hard I am to get ahold of, and as if I was unaware, how imperative it was for my daughter to have the sedative. She didn't get any more pleasant when I advised her that the medication had been (and would be for the foreseeable future) on backorder. Thankfully, a pharmacy tech had told me "off the record" that the Rx could be written for tablets instead of caplets and filled immediately, information which could have been obtained with one 5-minute phone call by her office. Instead, I was forced to tolerate X# of missed calls, voicemails, and thinly veiled accusations of parental neglect. We recently missed an appointment for a med check once my daughter was on the buspar for a few weeks, but we already had another scheduled for 2 weeks out. After the missed appointment, instead of moving the next one forward or even one attempt to contact me, Ms. Hultman _refused to refill_ my daughter's much-needed medication. Buspar is psychoactive and therefore both VERY physically and mentally uncomfortable, not to mention DANGEROUS, to stop abruptly. We were in Indiana when the refill was declined; I attempted to take her to an Urgent Care office for the refill, but they could not bill out-of-state Medicaid, and I didn't have the cash to pay out of pocket. As for the need to "monitor" her progress in order for the medication to continue being covered (which is the line I got from the scheduling person who then tried to shout me down bc I'm obviously just a cretin who needs to learn my place and not a part of the reason she gets PAID): unfortunately for Ms. Hultman, I'm a licensed health (also life, accident, property, & casualty) insurance agent and know very well how insurance works - ours specifically, because in addition to being a years-long member, before becoming disabled, I worked as a licensed CSR for the specific company that administers our plan and pays our claims. They would ABSOLUTELY have covered the refill, regardless of the missed appointment, and pardon my profanity, but **** Melissa Hultman's visit count. Without question, Ms. Hultman chose to put my daughter's health & well-being in jeopardy for a few (and I mean FEW) dollars, a decision which was almost certainly solidified by the fact that we are Medicaid recipients, who are viewed with poorly-disguised derision by a FAR too-large chunk of the ENTIRE medical profession. This purposeful act of petulant irresponsibility is a disgrace to the medical profession and the people it is supposed to serve. However, this has, to its further discredit, been only a slight, rancid whiff of the cumulative rot we've experienced as obvious "undesirables". As for us: my children will never see Ms. Hultman again. I recommend that anyone else who values their children's well-being over any doctor's wallet steer clear, as well."
