Reviews of Michael J. Jacobs, MD, PC
"An incredible surgeon, one with top tier bedside manner, genuine compassion, and impeccable dedication to his skill. Over the last 15 years, I have worked in medical in a range of settings as an MA, EMT, and BSN, RN and I can report as a patient that this provider is beyond exceptional. I have never felt so safe and cared about with a physician in any experience before, I owe my life to him. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Jacobs for his commitment to his profession and for executing exceptional care in a terrifying and challenging situation, while dealing with my medical complexities."
"I credit Dr. Jacobs for saving my life, and I will forever be extremely grateful for him. I was diagnosed with a very rare gastric condition at age 16, and for the past 12 years my family and I were attempting to find a treatment so that I could live a normal life. We went to the University of Michigan and Mayo Clinic and they were unable to offer me any treatments or recommendations. I had a massive GI bleed that could have been fatal, and Dr. Jacobs was the one to step in, review my case in greater detail than it had been before, and suggested a partial gastrectomy. Although my family and I were very hesitant to pursue an aggressive surgical option at my age (27), he was very realistic about what to expect with the surgery, and went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and make us feel comfortable going through with the surgery. I am happy to say that I almost a year out of surgery with excellent results! When I think of the word "hero", Dr. Jacobs comes to my mind. I will continue to recommend everyone to Dr. Jacobs, as he is the epitome of an excellent doctor and compassionate person."
"I had appendicitis. It was caught early. I was admitted and put on IV antibiotics overnight. Upon assessing my status in the morning, Dr. Jacobs proposed that there was a strong possibility a 7-day course of antibiotics would put me right. It did. I was unaware some cases of appendicitis can be treated this way. From what I've heard, some doctors won't consider it. I'm happy to still have my appendix and to have avoided the risks associated with a surgery. Though my interactions have been limited, it was easy to see why Dr. Jacobs gets such good reviews. The staff and other doctors at Ascension Novi were also great - morale was very high compared to some past experiences I've had. Multiple staff spoke very highly of him. You should feel confident in your care if he is your doctor."
"Dr.Jacobs saved my dad’s life. Do I need to say more? My dad had pancreatic cancer. Our family doctor referred us to Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs conferred with our family doctor on a further diagnosis and agreed on whipple surgery which is very complex. My Dad is 88 year old, so we were very hesitant to go through with it. But we did our research and found our that Dr. Jacobs has performed over 600 whipple surgeries during his career. Dr. Jacobs, was very confident that my Dad was a good candidate and that he would recover well. He was spot on. While my Dad was recovering in Providence Hospital for 13 days, we learned even more about this doctor. The nurses and staff who know him said that if they have to go under the knife they will onlytrust Dr. Jacobs. I know for sure the whole floor were patients that he performed surgeries on--patients like my Dad who trusted him with their lives. It's been 3 months now and my dad is doing very well. I hope this will help others to trust Dr. Jacobs."
"My name is Paul Bright and I am 52 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on 07/12/18. The cancer metastasized to the liver before we caught it. My wife Lisa and our two sons have been fighting ever since. We met Dr. Jacobs shortly after that devastating day. Dr. Jacobs took over my primary care, as our liver surgeon, after six months of chemotherapy. He comforted us for which we can never repay him. His love and medical knowledge for his patients is unmatched. We view Dr. Jacobs as a true blessing and he has helped me and my family fight this terrible disease for 3 years, already beating some incredible odds. His powerful message of continuing to stay positive and always believing you will beat this disease, is a major reason we have survived. Lisa and I simply had an angel walk through our door and we will be friends with this man for life. You will not find a better liver surgeon. Dr. Jacobs has performed 5 surgeries, all with very successful results but as anyone who has been through this journey, sometimes cancer and the body simply won’t comply. Lastly, as anyone who has been through this journey, it is important your therapy leaders work well with their colleagues. Dr. Jacobs has the utmost respect with all the leading members of the different groups supporting your treatment. Oncology, Internal Radiology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Nursing and all other physician assistants. These healthy relationships prosper even greater care for the patient. Dr. Jacobs simply the best liver surgeon but more importantly an amazing human being, who has saved my life."
