"Sometimes you can get a ride and mothers who can't it's difficult to get situated with the transportation otherwise I'm in it and it's lovely there trying to start new programs to do with employment and education so it'd be worth stopping in for that also you'd be able to sit down and get to know some people and possibly remember your way through and get a recommendation for employment or education"

"I really like this location. There is plenty of parking. They provide regular services that are immediately useful in the real world. Everyone has problems from time to time and it is comforting and welcoming to know that is something serious happens that a place like the Turning Point Clubhouse (through Community Care Services) is here. More importantly – it is knowing that the people who staff and manage it are here with us. They are professional, have great experience, are compassionate, organized and effective. A sense of community is only a phone call or a visit away. I recently attended a talk at this location hosted by the Downriver FAN (Families Against Narcotics) given by Dr. Christensen from Ann Arbor. I learned a great deal about addiction and recovery. During my visit I was also able to gather meaningful information about other services in the area. These include computer training, food assistance and job assistance. (At the meeting we had some great mostaccioli – they put sausage in it – Yowie! It was great!) I will add their own words : “A sense of belonging, self-worth and accomplishment is critical as individuals recovering from a serious mental illness begin to integrate into the community. Turning Point Clubhouse, a voluntary psycho-social rehabilitation program, provides its members a safe and inspiring environment to expand their social network, explore interests and develop new skills. Turning Point Clubhouse, runs on a work ordered day, which means members are responsible for day-to-day operations. Our members have a strong sense of pride and ownership in the clubhouse and this confidence carries over to other areas of their life. Responsibilities include: •Planning menus and shopping for food •Preparing meals and snacks •Managing budgets and handling cash •Tracking product inventory •Performing computer and clerical tasks •Writing newsletters and community outreach •Maintaining the facility •Planning social outings •Leading tours and orientations •And more…”"
