"I enjoyed meeting with Dr. Knighton because it felt like she genuinely cared and I really take my mental health seriously. She is the first therapist I ever saw as an individual. I met with her for several months twice a week and decided to move temporarily back to Tennessee as she advised. Once I went back, she told me during our next scheduled meeting that she could no longer see me while out of state. I asked her why would she advise me to go home if that meant we could not continue therapy. She mentioned that she would attempt to get licensed in Tennessee but she never did. I decided to move back to Michigan and reached out to her to continue therapy and her reply was extremely brief and dry. Dr. Knighton caused me to lose faith in therapist because I thought we had a genuine connection. She showed me that for some therapist, it’s simply a job. I sent her several messages letting her know that it really needed to see her. She never replied to text messages or nor did she or her staff answer phone calls. One of her office staff members reached out saying her plate was full and to take care. Dry and to the point. Ultimately I’m glad that this all happened. I would not want to ever open up my mind again to someone who sees me as only a pay check. This is the only avenue I know of to let others know about my experience. Take care."
