"Rhonda called me while I was work, I had an employee in my office but I wanted to touch base with her about my daughters appointment because I had an emergent issue at my job and was unable to leave (nurse life). My son offered to bring my daughter to her appointment for me so I felt speaking to her about MY DAUGHTER was the logical thing since I could not attend. I was at work, pressed for time and she called and I started to brief her about the issues we had been having. She interrupted me, said NOTHING about my child and told me my insurance claim came back and I needed to pay her $35.00. Her ONLY concern was a measly $35.00 which I was at work, swamped and she springs this charge on me for the first time as if it was life and death if it was not paid immediately. She also called as I was on my way to pick my daughter up from her appointment, still very concerned about her $35.00. She had another client that she had to see in five minutes and I am like I can go to the ATM and slide it under your door in an envelope if it is that important. You literally sprang this charge on me out of nowhere, no bill in the mail etc. She also did not have my itemized receipt ready so that I could bill my other insurance but she needed her $35.00 bucks right then and there! She then told my daughter that I am disrespectful! Yes Rhonda, that was an appropriate thing to share with your CHILD patient! Yes, I was put off by her method of interrupting me and not talking about my child she was about to see. She also told my daughter that her 10-15 minutes of daily chores was too much and she would be overwhelmed herself by that. Pushing a button on a robot vacuum, getting the mail from the mailbox that is attached to the house, filling an ice tray once a week, emptying her bathroom garbage once a week, cleaning her stuff of the table and desk every day is too much for a nearly 13 year old child? Oh and training HER dog that she wanted? As in, giving the dog treats for listening to commands I already taught the dog. Basically making sure she is interacting with the dog she begged for, for five minutes is too much for a 13 year old. She basically enforced her to be lazy and that I am disrespectful. I do not know Rhonda personally but I GUARANTEE she doesn't have children or understand the sometimes demanding schedule of a fulltime singe parent with no support. Her response to me about her $35.00 was the money was part of the busines. Of course it is, but I have NEVER seen a professional in the medical field so hung up on $35.00. We had never discussed this bill previously as she was waiting for my insurance to do their part. She had not been trying to collect this from me for a period of time. She could have said, if you don't have time we can collect it tomorrow or at next weeks appointment. Furthermore, in the two sessions we had with her, she never offered my child a single coping skill. It sounds as if she was just lending an ear during their sessions. I have spent a lot of time around health professionals and therapists and I have never experienced one who wasn't willing to discuss the issues if they had the time to do so. She obviously had the time as she returned my call, but it was only to try to collect $35.00 on the spot."
