"I highly recommend finding another HFHS specialist if possible, trust me when I say: avoid Dr. Simmerman for OB care. He is extraordinarily dismissive to health concerns, offers very little in terms of bedside manor, and can be incredibly condescending. As a male offering female medical care his level of insensitivity, dismissiveness and "toughen up" attitude (in response to pain complaints) , are alarming to say the least."

"Dr Simmerman has been my doctor for quite a few years now. He was recommended to me by my reproductive endocrinologist years ago, whom I trusted very much. He has always been straightforward, kind and caring. He always asks how I am doing at my appointments. He delivered my first child and did a great job. When had my second child during Covid, he was not in the delivery room at that time. He asked me to send him pictures of my newborn after delivery. He has always listening to what I had to say and answered my questions thoroughly. I highly recommend him and trust him as my OBGYN."

"I changed my OBGYN in the last month of pregnancy so you can imagine the amount of anxiety i had. They scheduled me with Dr. Simmerman. Reading some recent reviews made me a little bit worried and scared that he would not be as dedicated or as good. I have to admit that i was surprised of the way he treated me in the first visit. He was very professional and answered every question i had and made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend him . I don’t usually trust doctors but i am happy that they scheduled me with Dr.Simmerman and i hope the day I deliver he is there."

"I'm writing this review because it's almost one year since my first delivery and I still cry of anxiety and anger from the mental damage Dr. Neil Simmerman has done to me. He was the scheduled OBGYN doctor at HFHS West Bloomfield during my L&D and he was the worst doctor I've ever met in my life! He barely introduced himself, he just entered the room. Never explained anything to me of what he was going to do so I can mentally and physically prepare. First time he checked my cervix he popped my water bag without telling me ahead of time, he literally did it while he was in process. Second time, he was so rough he made me cry and scream to were he inflamed my cervix and they had to give me antibiotics to avoid infection and sort of had no choice to have a natural birth because he inflamed my cervix and my delivery was recommendedto be c-section because he inflamed my cervix. While I was screaming in pain during the second cervix check he had the audacity to ask me why I was in pain because he's not hurting me! As if I was lying! He even touched my baby's head that made her jump and caused even more pain. I was so angry when he walked out the room I expressed myself in tears to my husband and family. Dr. Simmerman overheard my parents talking about what happened and how much blood I lost when he inflamed my cervix that my mom was going to pass out and how he didn't explain anything to me as he should and he stormed out of his room/office and came to my labor room to basically justify himself with an attitude and I was literally crying still in physical pain from him hurting me and he had the audacity to argue for almost 10mins with me to the point where I had to stop the conversation. He later then came back calmer and tried to tell me that he recommends I get c-section because my cervix became inflamed and although he explained himself about the c-section surgery he still boasted about how he was the best compared to all his other peers and that he's done hundreds of c-sections. He is very arrogant and completely out of line as a professional! He never made me feel comfortable not once and he never cared about my pain tolerance; it's all about him! I even got scared to have him do the c-section surgery on me because I was scared he would do something intentionally to me but since I was in complete shock and emotionally angry I didn't request for another doctor to deliver my baby. After I delivered he never showed his face, nor followed up with me, and I never received an apology from him. When I talk about my first and only delivery story to people I literally cry from the mental damage he caused and it made me rethink ever having kids again from the trauma. I am so angry with myself for not being aggressive enough to request for another doctor to deliver me. My first follow up appointment postpartum with my primary OBGYN , I explained to her everything that happened, she said HFHS management would contact me and they have yet to do so. Out of all the great doctors at HFHS I am so disappointed that HFHS has him employed. Rethink Dr. Simmerman as your OBGYN!! He is not professional and he's cold."
