LowellArts
About the Business
LowellArts, located at 223 West Main Street in Lowell, Michigan, is an institution that connects artists and audiences through visual and performing arts. The 38th Annual LowellArts West Michigan Art Competition showcases exceptional artwork by artists from Lower West Michigan, spanning a 25-county region. Artists 18 years and older submitted artwork in various visual art media, with five cash awards totaling $3000 to be presented.
The gallery hours for the exhibition are from March 23 to April 27, 2024, with opening hours on Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and on Saturdays from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. In addition to exhibitions, LowellArts offers hands-on workshops for individuals to explore their creativity. For example, participants can create their own glass suncatchers or unique felt fish using wool and barbed needles.
Another workshop option is creating a Petoskey stone 'painting' using dyed wool and fabric, with the choice of a pre-printed design or the opportunity to create a custom design. For those interested in performing arts, there is an opportunity to participate in an original one-act play, learning acting techniques and tips along the way from experienced instructors Brent Alles and Rob Freund.
LowellArts is supported by the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, demonstrating its commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression in the community. Whether you are an artist looking to showcase your work or an individual interested in exploring different art forms, LowellArts offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

"Beautiful space filled with a large variety of carefully displayed art work."
"Fun place to visit. Especially in conjunction with other shows, festivals."
"It's a great place to spend some time to collect your thoughts maybe one of the pieces of art will help you do that. If so maybe you should take it home with you?"
"This place is awesome to showcase local artists. I bought a Leland Blue and silver necklace from a display and the artist was there. Her items were very reasonably priced, where others were way out of my price range. She was also super informative and helpful about her pieces. I hope to go back and find something else for my mom. So I rated it a 4 because some things were priced for a different market class of people."
"A stunning venue to host an event or small party! I recently hosted a small birthday party for a friend at Lowell Arts and everyone Loved it! It was nice to be able to wander the gallery for our own private viewing. The artwork made for a beautiful backdrop so no decorations needed. It also feels good knowing that money spent to rent the space as a venue is going toward supporting local art. There was light music in the backdrop which was also nice. It was a very calm and relaxing environment to spend the time in. I will definitely host events at this venue again in the future."
