Holiday Inn Express & Suites Rochester Hills - Detroit Area, an IHG Hotel

"We stayed here for a weekend while we were in town visiting family. When we entered the room, I went into the bathroom to find hair in the shower, hair in all corners of the bathroom, and only two towels. It was myself, husband, and two small children. There were no door hanging signs for do not disturb, which we normally use since we have small kids, very little seating, and the room itself was not as clean as we are used to. We only stay at Hilton’s when we travel and this one did not meet the standards of our stays at different locations. We wanted to take the kids swimming, there were no clean towels in the pool area, and they had what looked like a dehumidifier running that was leeching water with green mold all over the pool floor. It was absolutely disgusting. I went to ask for more towels and was informed they had no clean towels and that they had to be dried but would bring them to our room when they were done. Once we returned to our room it was about 2 hours later that we finally got more towels. When housekeeping came to clean our room while we were gone, all they did was take the garbage and dirty towels, bed was not remade or sheets changed. Breakfast was meager, the pancake griddle was broken and the hot food was never full, looked dried out. Unfortunately I don’t think we would stay at this location again or recommend this location to anyone. When I tried to find someone at the front desk to bring up our concerns the first night no one ever came. I don’t feel like what we paid to stay here met the price."

"I arrived late, close to 11. While it was an hour ride from the airport, when I was greeted by Tony at the front desk you would've thought it was 4pm check in time. He was patient and kind as I checked in, which was also a smooth process! Who doesn't love a smooth check in process? Oh and my room was clean spacious, and quiet since I had to check out first thing in the AM! When I return I'll def stay here."

"No sugar/cream/stirrer things in room and they were out of coffee in the lobby everytime I went down. It was a busy morning and they had one guy running around doing his best. I called the front desk last night and the guy asked if I minded going down to the lobby to pick up the sheets I needed for the sofa bed because he was the only one working. I didn't mind but it seems they have a staffing issue. Also the elevator doesn't seem very safe =/ I usually love holiday inns but this one needs some new management!"

"Do not stay here if you value comfort or sleep. The highway is all you can see or hear at night. Besides the other guests banging around through paper thin walls and ceilings. Our shower door was either broken or never quite sealed in the first place. Got water all over the floor. It was somehow hot and cold in the rooms at the same time. My bf spent the entire night sneezing and sniffing. Maybe mold or something in the rooms? It did not effect me as bad but I woke up with a headache as did he. Only reason we stayed here is my bfs company paid for it for a work trip. We are not staying the second night and opting to go home early. I cannot say anything bad about the staff or service. The room was clean and we got a fresh towel when we needed it."

"Elevator broke while I was at front desk trying to check in. Manager on duty went to fix it with a paper clip, mentioning that is how he usually fixes it. Got to room to find it absolutely filthy - mildew in shower and on shower curtain, hair all over bathroom (tub, floors). Three people in room, but only one bath towel provided and I stood at the front desk for over ten minutes waiting for someone to appear so I could get more towels. Pool (part of reason we chose hotel) was "out of order". My son stepped in a huge hole under the carpeting in the hallway. Carpeting was unvacuumed and visibly stained and dirty. Terrible experience. Even the parking lot was full of potholes. Reached out to the hotel and got a from email from the manager about "sorry, hopefully your next stay is better." Seriously?"
