Reviews of Sun Outdoors Kensington Valley
"Overall our first camping trip here was okay. I do not plan on returning to this campground for the following reasons. The speed limit of 5 1/2 is great for the safety of children, but it is clearly NOT ENFORCED. After dark, the drunk and rowdy crowd drove around on their golf carts with loud music and the normal drunken behavior, again not observing the 5 1/2mph speed limit. The beach, none of which are large, was full of partying adults with essentially very little room for children to play. The children that were there appeared to be unsupervised by any adult. Our site was small and on a steep decline (hill) that led into a lake channel. It was very difficult to utilize the firepit space as it was located on the hill and was not movable. The electric and water lines had to be run across our site as the connections were between the two sites. It did not appear that the grass had been cut on our site, possibly because the grass is on the decline (hill). The visibly older swings had hornets in the frame of the swing set. If you do visit this campground and have children, there are a few nice things to comment on. The newer playground sets were nice and there was a very large jumping pillow. The fishing in the lakes is good. You will definitely need to was your RV after camping here as the road to get in is a long dirt road. The dirt roads in the campground itself are full of pot holes."
"Loved this campground! We had a great site on one of the lakes. The power pedestal was on the passenger side so the office lent us an extension cord. A lot of dust to get to and from the campground to the main road. I would think some calcium chloride on the road would be warranted. Outside of that, we had zero issues. The dust and the extension cord issues were no big deal. Staff was always super friendly and there was a great get together with a DJ. Quiet hours were always observed. I would highly recommend this campground. I personally would like to go back for a week next summer."
"Very nice campground, and clean facilities. Beware if you book a site with hookups on the opposite side as you need hose extensions to reach! Our sewer hose did not reach, but the staff helped us out and all was good. The only negative thing I have to say is that this park does NOT have recycling facilities which I find strange & irresponsible in this day and age of preserving the environment!"
"The place was clean. Nice size lots. Laundry dryers didn't work properly. No biggie. My only problem was we we in Michigan for a month to catch up with family and it cost $10.00 a person to get in to see us. That is ridiculous. I understand that visitors should have a day pass in their windshield, but it shouldn't cost them anything."
"This used to be Haas lake campground and we loved it as a family however, since sun outdoors bought it they have made it a money pit charging ridiculous fees $35.00 for resort fee (this is not a resort) $35.00 to lock in your site. Visitors fee used to be $3.00 now it’s $10.00 per person. At the dance party they had what looked like guards standing around who were aggressive and no where near friendly and welcoming. It’s too bad this used to be a great place to camp. My family will not be camping at any sun outdoors campgrounds. They apparently are not aware that camping is supposed to be a fun, friendly and inexpensive way to enjoy the summer."
