Reviews of South Haven Jellystone Park
"Very strict campground. They very actively threaten to have you removed if you do something that's against the rules...I get there are rules but, when you're at your fire telling stories sometimes you scream during quiet hours. I locked myself out and they basically told me I was out of luck. My kids and I were nervous about sleeping in the car until the next day but then they had someone come open the cabin without telling me. I don't need that type of anxiety when I'm trying to relax and have fun with my kids."
"Overall, I’d suggest staying away from this place. There is quite a bit for kids to do, but it’s not worth the headache, or money. When we arrived, we were met with a very rude woman who was all business with zero customer service skills. We didn’t know about the firewood rule, yes, that’s on us. However, we had to pay $20 to bag it up, then we could pick it up on our way out. Still not the worst part. When we left on Sunday, the woman was rude to my husband again because he did indeed want his firewood back. There is a lot of blood and sweat that goes into splitting wood. It took them forever to go get it! Then once they did bring it back, they only brought one of the two bags. The kid rolled his eyes when we said we had another bag and acted like a spoiled toddler because he had to go back and find the other bag. When he finally brought the bag back, he threw it at our truck and walked away! The bag split open and wood rolled all over. Completely unacceptable! I can understand the wood rule, but throwing the bag at our vehicle!? No!! We decided to come here because they had the “Haunt in the Park”. We came a couple years ago and the “haunt” went through the park and went up to the campsites. It was amazing and we really enjoyed it. I called at the very beginning of the season to make sure they were still doing it and they assured me they were; so I made our reservations. Come to find out, they are only doing a haunted house now. $17 to wait in line for over an hour. Ugh. I really want to like this place but I just can’t after this last weekend. Save your money and go somewhere else. Trust me, you’ll be saving a lot!"
"Great stay for kids. Staff was very helpful, patient, and friendly towards the kids. I can’t say enough how impressed I was with the character interactions with kids. They really made things special and you could see it on the kid’s faces. Park is clean and appears very new with plenty of amenities for kids. The pool and bounce pillow were very popular as were all the bikes that could be rented. The characters were out often and very welcoming for pictures. Like most Jellystone Parks, camping sites were very close together and most space was communal between sites. It was busy loud until quiet hours and then things quieted quickly. You also needed the app to find out when events are happening as I did not see any schedules posted. Overall, even with the rain, we had a great weekend!"
